I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

UMm try reading it again, the point is well made what Reagan wanted and what he compromised for. What he got was gutted by Kennedy.

You're right. I guess I just expected worse. Congress is where we will really get the shaft from. You could wish that the Pres. had the guts to really lead but given his complete inattention to this for six years I had no illusions that he would. And if he did would Congress follow? There's no precedent in his Presidency for that either.

It wouldn't be simple and maybe not as effective as proponents hope, but I am all for a fence/wall and every other means of preventing illegals from entering our country.
I heard George Alolen speak tonight on Hannity and liked what he said. He and some other senators are determined to stop McCain/Kennedy and insisit on enforcement first.
I have yet to hear anyone mention a deadline for illegals to sing up for any type of 'new" guest worker program or for any of the current laws regarding 'green card holders. I think a date determined is a necessity too.
They may be loony to a bushbot, but can you dispute 'with facts' that they are wrong??? I haven't read any of their stuff in a long while but I remember some of it being pretty interesting...
