I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

If the lure of illegally crossing is great enough, NO BORDER SECURITY will stop them from coming. We can't afford to search every single truck, car, and train that crosses the border. We can't deploy people every 300 yards across the entire border, which we would have to do even with a super-fence, just to make sure people weren't using ladders and other devices to get over the fence.
The guest worker program removes the incentive for spending a lot of money breaking in. In exchange, we give some people jobs, but get to tag them and make sure they leave at the end.
A guest worker program is not even close to amnesty. And even if it was, what's your brilliant proposal to try and make it where people have a structure they have to obey to work in the country? Because it's funny, I've seen a lot of self-appointed geniuses ripping Bush and what he said tonight, but those same people don't seem to have any real life practical actionable solutions of their own. I just see a bunch of Monday morning Quarterbacks ripping what Bush said, but having no real solutions of their own. When Bush is a moron, I've called him such, but when he finally starts to get something right, it doesn't make me a "Bushbot" to say he got something right.
And you know, you guys who call people "Bushbots" truly are as annoying as liberals who call Conservatives facist nazis. Just because I don't hate all things Bush all the time doesn't make me a Bushbot. This thread has really turned childish.

Amnesty has been attempted and done before by LBJ and Reagan.
Enforcement of the Border and not rewarding people that have broken the law is the tough job not yet explored.

If dobbs is so stinking smart why is he a journalist and not in an occupation that actually changes things? This is getting old. It seems there are some FReepers who can't be pleased any of the time, about anything at all, but they still yell how conservative they are. I'm really sick of that.

Do you really believe that without illegal aliens no grass will be cut, no roofs will be shingled, all motels will close and lettuce will be unobtainable? If you do, you have bought into the garbage promoted by the MSM and Democratic party. None of these were the reality before the massive invasion of illegal aliens.
