I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

No it wasn't. The speech had several flaws. The most glaring was an omission of a border length security fence. The second was insisting on wrapping border security with a "guest worker" program.
Many conservatives do not trust Bush to enforce border security - that is why a border length security fence has been called for.
Counting on Bush to defend the border is like counting on a advocate for the homeless enforcing panhandling ordinances - it's going to be done half-heartedly.
Sure, they will wait in line for citizenship, but they'll be waiting in the USA. Not back in their country of origin, but paying a fine and back taxes, assuming they're dumb enough to claim any significant back taxes. It's like a tax amnesty, where you don't get thrown in jail if you promise to pay your back taxes and penalties, and everyone calls it just that, amnesty. And just wait - when all is said and done, the number that will come out of the shadows will be a multiple of the 12 million figure people have thrown around. It happened in '86.
Really? Maybe that is because of passed policy just like with 9/11. You can't blame it on Bush because it increased on his watch..it was a long time coming.
And...by the way..he is the first one to historically propose closing the border..no other President has proposed that...ever.
I agree, but we should strengthen our presidents hand; not weaken it for political favors.

Oooo newbie. Check the whole of my posts and what I've said in them. I happen to have seen quite a few other users here who have been registered here for years and they have also commmented that a lot of trolls and libs are here making a stink about the speach to stir the pot. So since they are not "newbies" and they've said the same thing I did, what do you say to them? And I might be a newbie here but I've been a registered Republican active volunteering in the party for 16 years and on the net posting on conservative boards and conservative email groups since 94 when the net first took off, so watch who you call a "newbie". If you can't talk about the topic at hand which is what I've been posting about, kindly do not address me.
