U.S. must destroy Iran's nuclear facilities
American Chronicle ^ | 01MAY06 | David Holcberg

Posted on 05/14/2006 9:00:55 PM PDT by familyop

No amount of negotiation or international pressure will persuade the Iranian theocrats to give up their longtime quest for nuclear bombs. To ensure Iran will not produce--or use--nuclear bombs, the United States and its allies must destroy Iran's nuclear facilities and wipe out its regime--and must do so without delay.

Iran presents a much greater danger to the United States' security than did Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Once Iran gets hold of nuclear bombs, the United States will be an easy target for blackmail and a likely target for mass destruction. As one of the principal ideological sources of Islamist totalitarianism, Iran is an avowed enemy of the United States and a leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Iran finances, trains, shelters and equips terrorists from organizations like al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad. Iran is currently waging a proxy war against the United States in Iraq and killing American soldiers by the dozens (if not by the hundreds). Under those circumstances the United States has a moral right--indeed, a moral obligation--to defend its people from Iran's threats and preempt future terrorist attacks.

The Iranian regime has repeatedly threatened to use its soon-to-be-produced nuclear weapons to wipe Israel off the map. It has repeatedly called for "Death to America." These threats must be taken seriously. We did not take Osama bin Laden's threats seriously, and lost thousands of lives in the Twin Towers. We do not want to make the same mistake with Iran, and lose many thousands more.

Even liberaltarians are ready to see something done about Iran's nuclear weapons efforts. What are we waiting for?

This makes too much sense for anyone in a leadership position to take seriously. Maybe if we said "Iranian president threatens illegals, minorities" they would listen.

Personally, I'm waiting for all these yapping liberal heads to enlist in our Armed Forces and show us how it's done, our sons and daughters have already done their part (and are still doing so).

Cowards all (libs, Senators, Congresscritters), phony cowards.

Exactly! Iran can't do anything if we destroy their sites except call for another Jihad and that ones getting pretty darn old by now.

It would be cheaper to just get rid of Ahmadman.

Sigh.

The plot thickens and the thicken plots.

Was hoping it was going to be deferred until at least after 2008's Olympics.

But the nutty ragheads are clearly hell-bent on destruction on a global scale.

Not a lot of pretty options, it seems.

What a setup.

If the West doesn't destroy Ahmadijihad's nuclear program, Ahmadijihad's nuclear program will destroy the west.

The issue is that simple. Mutually Assured Destruction is this man's *goal*.

We're waiting for a Chruchill. Right now, all we have are Chamberlains, looking for moderate Muslims. When I was a child I looked for the Tooth Fairy. Some people never grew up.

"What are we waiting for?"

Exactly ...
Well we missed a perfectly good chance to take out
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the other day as he was flying
around , back & forth to South East Asia.
Oh no! we can't do that! It's against the rules...

It works for my husband. He keeps saying "I don't care what his name is" whenever I use Ahmadinejad.

I agree.

Until we finish what is rapidly becoming a quagmire in Iraq we should let the Iran situation simmer.

We are not the only country in the world that is concerned about Iran. Let someone else take care of it.

Bang on!

Our forgotten troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have more than enough at the present to contend with. Some days they go with proper sleep and nourishment yet there are those who wish to pile more on them.

The only reason we have as many troops at the moment is because of the utilization of the NG - thanks to 'slick'.

People seem to forget the majority of those who are in the NG went in solely for the benefits, they never expected to be fighting for their country on the front lines, that's why they've always been called 'weekend warriors', and now when they come home from the ME everyone expects them to go and man the borders which is another budding war front. Before long we won't be able to get anyone to sign up for the NG. If fighting was their intention when they joined, they would have signed with the permanent fulltime forces.

I know of three Juniors at the High School where I teach who are doing NG basic training this summer. Every High School in Vermont has these kids, and there are hundreds of them. No one is running from being in our NG here in Vermont, and its one of the most liberal wing nut socialist states in the country, besides Illinois and Washington States. They call each other,"battle buddies." One is a piper in our Highland band at school. They want to serve and consider it an honor.

No, the Europeans will just make another "peace in our time," like they did with that Hitler fellow in 1938.

They're idiots.
