I know of three Juniors at the High School where I teach who are doing NG basic training this summer. Every High School in Vermont has these kids, and there are hundreds of them. No one is running from being in our NG here in Vermont, and its one of the most liberal wing nut socialist states in the country, besides Illinois and Washington States. They call each other,"battle buddies." One is a piper in our Highland band at school. They want to serve and consider it an honor.

If they're that 'gungho' why don't they just enlist when they graduate?

We are a military family and meet NG's everyday who are crying to get back to their normal lives as before their deployments to the ME, and now the word is getting out they'll be used on the border as well they're not very happy campers.

JMO: those Jr. high students at 16/17 yrs old still think it's all a game and haven't faced reality yet.
