BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy. Stand Up For America ! |
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

You are right about Gore....that was right at the top. I was heavly envolved here at the time.
Look how we have handled things that would have once been treasonous in the last few years with respect to the media.
We haven't been cracking down on things that are fundamental to our nation.
Excellent point. Too bad the MSM will never report it....Unless a Democrat held the White House.
We lose 700 people a year here just to deer and auto collisions.
The average US death rate per 100,000 is 845 per year. With over a 100,000 troops you would have many deaths, even if you didn't have an enemy.
For anyone who thinks I'm just on an anti-government rant I do recognize that there are exceptions in the media and in Congress. Even Zell Miller has maintained his integrity. But there is a lack of spine in Republicans too that, while not directly destructive, leave the country wide open to trashing. And we have many enemies both foreign and domestic. This is not a time to debate principle with leftists it's a time to apply it.
That's true. I think Rush was only citing murder rates except in Iraq. In Iraq he was using all violent deaths from intentional acts. Murder plus combatant deaths. It was striking. Especially New Orleans at 59 per 100K. I think only Columbia was higher with something like 63. This is all from memory so the exact figures may be off but their relative ratios are right.
It's good to come here and find so much vital news at my fingertips.
My mom used to say...."sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite"....damn, now they are coming back!
Hola, Ladita
And still do and still WANT to do.
I find it odd they were headed south which is back toward the border.............
Shooting Closes San Diego Border Crossing By THOMAS WATKINS, Associated Press Writer
Fri May 19, 4:51 AM ET
SAN DIEGO - The world's busiest border crossing reopened early Friday following a nine-hour closure that occurred after federal authorities shot and killed the driver of a car headed for Mexico, officials said.
The shooting took place on southbound Interstate 5 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday about 50 feet north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry, which links Tijuana, Mexico with San Diego. The crossing reopened around 12:40 a.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, said Maurice Luque, a spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. No other injuries were reported.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents began following a black sport utility vehicle after somebody reported seeing it pick up suspected illegal immigrants near the U.S. side of the Otay Mesa border crossing, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of San Diego Police Department.
As traffic backed up near the border, the vehicle stopped on the shoulder. When agents approached, the suspect "began to drive off and he veered hard to the left, trying to get back in traffic," Rooney said. Two agents then opened fire, he said.
Five passengers in the vehicle, whose identities were not released, were taken into custody and were being interrogated, Rooney said.
Anna Valderrama of Tijuana, Mexico, who was about four vehicles back when the shooting occurred, said she was stuck in her car for more than two hours.
"I was going to eat with my family," said Valderrama. "I feel desperate to go home."

"Bombshell tonight on H&C. According to Tom Tancredo it doesn't matter whose name (in the Senate) is on the Bill -- Hagel-Martinez, Kennedy-McCain, etc... he said all the bills were written in Kennedy's office by his staff. He was dead serious and Alan Colmes did not challenge that statement."
That was an amazing interview wasn't it?
I mean really, do they think we are all so stupid we believe this cr@p?
Thanks for that description on the shooting, that explains their southbound direction when the shooting occurred.
Now, if this would happen more often a lot of the border jumpers would think twice [maybe] about breaking the law and entering this country illegally.
Troops and their loved ones should not feel they aren't protected with the standard issue helmet. Our forces are issued head armor (kevlar helmets) that offers the best protection known in the Military from bullets and small frags. That was the main danger in previous combat engagements and is still an important defense now. However, new elements have entered the picture, that of IED's (roadside bombs) and other explosives which these helmets were not designed to defend against. The blast wave, large frag's carried thereon and the trooper being tumbled along the ground or inside a vehicle is producing brain injury ranging from concussion to death or permanent disability...if the blast is survivable. Without proper padding, the head becomes the "clapper in a bell" and the strap/sling suspended helmet itself strikes the head, resulting in every grade of head injury/brain damage from a concussion to death or disability.
Studies at Walter Reed Army Hospital show that blunt force head trauma cases outnumber penetrating head injuries significantly in troops with brain damage from OIF/OEF, especially from enemy action (IED's, etc) as well as vehicle accidents.
The virtual fence which now has all those motion sensors that don't tell whether it's human or animal being sensed and also don't arrest anyone
have at least 10% that are not functioning. I don't know how many millions we spent on those.
The cameras which don't arrest anyone either, cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 million dollars and that's just for 250 cameras.
The unmanned aerial vehicles were shown crashed in the desert, I'm not sure if they were being shot down or just not air worthy. :(
Congressman Rohrabacher spoke about criminals in prison being eligible under this ""amnesty"" bill. And he mentioned the Hertitage Foundation information about the 60+ million being tacked into this bill as a baseline number to be allowed in the next ?? years. [I missed that number.]
The Dr was interviewed about hospitals bearing the burden of these illegal alien patients. MANY nonprofit hospitals have closed because they cannot afford to remain open. This puts additional burden on surrounding hospitals. [I know first hand of hospital closing in LA which occurred as much as 10 years ago already - this phenomena is just coming to other cities] She mentioned how contagious TB is........I think WE all know this, unfortunately our Senators don't. Dr Firlik has a book about this experience, I imagine it would be interesting to read. She is from Connecticut BTW.
Simple answer - YES
NO BILL is better thab a BAD BILL.
BTTT
:(
This was another story I heard yesterday on Lou's show. 5 illegal aliens were arrested at the Dept of Water & Power in Los Angeles. Guess what?........One of them was in management making $100,000 a year. Yep just doing the jobs that American's won't!!
I agree it is NOT impossible. Close the border, Cut off cash flow, Then systematically deport. Either entice or FORCE Their choice!
