Really? How come we didn't have hundreds of threads about Clinton's immigration policy? Was it because he had troops on the border? No.

I am tired of people acting as if this issue has been front and center for five years. It has not, and to blame the President when Congress, and previous presidents, did absolutely NOTHING.

It gets worse than that. Turns out "people" are selling children/babies SS numbers to illegals; when SS finds cases of this they claim they are prohibited from notifying the parents of the disenfranchised child.

Perhaps Congress should really be concentrating on fixing things in the existing law to allow it to work better in 2006 vs 1986.

I'm just wondering if it's to get the Minutemen off the border so the illegals can be escorted into the US by US troops instead of coyotes.

Aha! You see my point! This isn't something that has a simple solution. Controlling the border requires revamping existing law, getting the cooperation of local governments (sanctuary cities, for example) and getting legislation which plugs the loopholes.

I am all for getting the situation under control, but our best hope is getting the President and Congress to first secure the border. Then we can worry about what to do about the people who are already here. If we argue about all the aspects of the issue and do nothing, then we will simply end up with a worse problem.

Not really. Many of those 6 million were caught crossing the border.

Finding and deporting 11 million from the interior is an eintirely different story.

I disagree with the President on this, and have said so hundreds of times, consistently.

There are hundreds of freepers out there who are avoiding this topic altogether because of the hate, anger and unbridled emotion on these threads.

The fact that you've missed it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And trying to turn it around on me with the phony and false "You don't want anyone to criticize or disagree with the President" proves that you aren't paying attention to what's going on.

Lots of us want serious discussion of this, and we can't get it because of the hate........yes, hate, for the President and for those of us who respect him.

I want the illegals that are here to live off our social services system gone, yes. If they could actually pass a guest worker program and guarantee they could make it work -- i.e. the people come here to work and then return off season to their homes in Mexico, that would be great. Do I believe the sharp increase in young children coming across the border -- many by themselves -- and young, pregnant women has anything to do with a guest worker program? No, I don't.

I realize many find my attitude to be emotional and it is... I see all around me what has happened to the part of the country I call home because of the millions pouring through our state and I do get emotional over the subject.

It certainly is not uncivil in the way that talking about ovens and such is. (Well, there may have been some little remark about a "coven," but surely that was because of all this "oven" talk!!)

I don't know if the content, which is a (political) attack would violate any policy here. I certainly don't urge you to violate any policy.
