I'm not going to believe it until it happens. What would make President Bush change his mind? He doesn't seem to care if Mexicans are illegally in the country. Could it be the possibility of terrorists sneaking over the border?

However, yesterday, a resident FROBL (that is a Free Republic Open Borders Loony) said that he wouldn't mind if conservative Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo died a gruesome death. Go here for my response to that outrage. Digusting.

If they do actually build a wall, they're gonna need a pre-wall put up to prevent Americans from being shot who are building the wall or those guarding them. The Mexican Military is in bed with the drug cartels. You can guarantee that they won't stand for it without starting something. That would be a good thing too.
I KNOW that there are long time conservatives upset about this, and they are NOT the ones I'm talking about.

If I thought for one moment that you were interested in a serious and respectful conversation, I'd go for it. But you have a long and deep history of acting like a complete jerk.

I am not sure that this will be a quick fix for low ratings.
It will focus much more attention on the problem and will highlight the situation that has so angered much of the base.
New waves of illegals will try to beat the military to the border. And Vincente Fox will go nuts. Will W. tell him to STFU? I don't think so.
For all his faults, I don't think W. is much of a liar. I think whatever he says/does will come off as half-hearted. He is likely to inflame his problems without solving them at all. This is not to say that I am not hoping for some beneficial action from whatever this initiative is. I certainly am.

I live in San Diego and nobody in the "amnesty" crowd is going to intimidate me. Let them come down here and deal with our overcrowded schools, our hospitals being closed down, and our emergency services being over and ill used because the illegals can't be refuse medical treatment for a cold if they call 9-1-1!

A ploy? What to do with the illegal invaders is lots more complicated than many realize. Mexico is one our major oil suppliers. What happens if Mexico gets so pissed at the United States that it just sells that oil to India? This is like trying to fix a car while it is speeding 70 mph down the freeway. I am sure many would like to fix the car. However, if you stick something wrong in the engine, you could wreck the whole car. We need to be patient. Just think. We have this summer's growing season and crops to pick. You want to afford a nice bottle of wine? Relax. Drink a bottle and eat some cheese.

I'm just razzing kelly for the fun of it, but there are all kinds of economic studies that fall on both sides of this issue. I'll Google it tomorrow and see what I can find that is reputable on both sides. I'm really tired right now or I'd get at this right now. I've been trading stocks this week like kelly.
Nothing. Oil is a global market and mexico is just one of the many suppliers. If Mexico did what you proposed, they would get less money for their oil as their oil would be under less demand. The United States would then just make it up by buying more on the world market.
And I think that the pressure they have exerted is having a positive effect. (I also think that Tony Snow may be having a positive effect in letting him know how strong the feelings are out here).
As for the prayer..........the invasion of illegals has been a focal point of my prayers for a long time. I believe in the power of prayer. Even if the President is 'set in his ways'......the Lord has power to overcome them. This seems like an impossible situation, but our God is the God of the impossible, and I believe it's going to be solved.
And thanks again for your service in protection of the country we both love so much.
