GOP Party Census Insults Conservatives
10 May 2006 | wgflyer

To All,

I just received a Republican Party Census Document in the mail. Reading through the questions and the selectable answers I begin to understand that the GOP is in a similar dilema to that of the Dems. They seem to be trying to figure out strategy based upon polls rather than trying to actually stand for something...

TN is a cinch. Ford trails all 3 Republican candidates and 59% of his donations are from out of state. The 3 Republican candidates are all in the 90%+ range for home grown donations.

What's the use of having a strong and respected military if you're not going to use it?

Oh, so now you're admitting they really are strong and respected? That's a bit of a departure from before. And I'd love for you to tell some of them they're not being used. Of course, if you're one of the "Nuke Mecca!" crowd, I can understand your disappointment. But then, a strong military wouldn't really be necessary, huh?

Why ping you when I see you are still posting away on the same thread? I give you credit for reading everything. Maybe it's my mistake, and I will certainly FREEP you when I mention your name. Please do bring it to the attention of the mod so that they can see where you called anyone who disagreed with you an immigration troll. We aren't. We care about and love our country just like you.

I didn't say they were not strong or respected. I said the Army has lowered standards for recruitment, which is a fact and an "issue" that anyone of moderate intelligence can debate. What's your opinion on that issue? Do you like the fact that the Army has lowered their recruitment standards? Building schools and fixing sewage systems is not the job of the American military. Finding and killing terrorists is. I would think that any soldier would agree with that, and I know quite a few.

--- Of course not -- because when you look at the issue objectively instead of simply accepting the silly notion that people who earn more money are somehow obligated to shoulder a higher burden ---

Enough of this conversation. I have never even once mentioned someone shouldering a higher burden. I simply stated that the Fair Tax is a regressive tax. That is a fact.

Not true. Another baseless smear!! Oh, I'm SUCH a victim! Tito, hand me a tissue! [sob]

You are a border troll. Period. Not because you disagree with me, but because you run from thread to thread, squawking about immigration, you (along with others you ping) scream to the moderators over the slightest perceived violation by me, yet you ignore similar or worse violations - especially initial ones to which I respond - by your buds. And when you are rather soundly put in your place by data provided by yours truly or others, you either ignore it, shriek about your victim status, or both.

You're a border troll, and you're not fooling me. Probably not fooling anyone, for that matter.

Maybe Bryant will get it this time. Hopefully Corker won't. The Ford name is despised anywhere east of Memphis even by many DEMs who are tired of their doings.

--- I am just going to leave it at: you are simply wrong.

In other words, you have no argument.---

Oh good grief! I gave you an argument. If you think the Fair Tax is NOT a regressive tax then you are simply wrong.

LOL I like your thinking. I also like Alberta's child' point that everyone should be forced to pay some minimum tax so we all remember that someone has to pay for government handouts.

--- You cut off your reading a bit too early. There is a large exemption for the first X dollars of purchases, thus making the tax progressive.---

No, I read that long ago. I have been over and over the Fair Tax issue. What you mention above is called a kluge. It's a hap-hazard fix to a broken REGRESSIVE taxing system.

It is regressive if you accept the argument that a person should pay more percentage-wise if they earn more. That is bunk. The regressive tax concept is a delusion of the progressives, or whatever they call themselves these days.

--- In your example, if those cars cost $20,000 for each person and the Fair Tax was 15%, then the rich guy paid 1.2% of his gross income in taxes on that car while the poor guy paid 12% of his gross income in taxes on that car.

What's the big deal? This is exactly how every state with a sales tax works, isn't it?---

Yes, that is correct. That is how sales taxes work. And sales taxes are regressive. We are stuck with sales taxes but I'll be damned if I'd ever cast a vote for a politician advocating the regressive Fair Tax system.

A flat tax, yes, a regressive tax, no.

Call me what ya like because it's meaningless. This issue is very important to me. You may have other things on your agenda that you feel are more important. Fine, but I can post and read what I like on FR, and the same can be said for you. It would be nice to talk policy, but we seem to be unable to do so when people are being called names.

*sigh*

The two are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE! I am talking only about the Fair Tax. It is a regressive tax... period!
