If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?
If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?
If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?
Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.
And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.
So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.
If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?
George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.
If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.
I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.
Nope the gloves are just off. Ya'll have had free reign for the last 6 months and it is past time you get some of it back. The fact that 15% of this site actually prefer that democrats win in 2006 is the most sickening example of betrayal I have ever witnessed. No not betrayal of the GOP, betrayal of the men and women dying daily in the WOT. Letting the democrats control congress in these times without every conservative vote to stop them is nothing less than treason.
What galls me in general, and I'm sure it's no different here, is that typically only 25-30% of registered voters show up at primaries. This is where change occurs...if you don't like what's going on, then vote against the incumbent and work hard for their victory.
But noooooooooo....

I couldn't agree with you more. However, I don't think Hillary will do the best job. And yes I will vote on fear. I fear communism and losing the war on terror. Therefore, I will vote any way I have to in order to defeat them.

Getting rid of a select few will not do the job. See, the problem isn't them. It's the people who buy them once they get in office. If you send your guy to Washington, and he's a marvelous candidate, says and believes all the right things. That's great. Then the Money moves in and starts to work on him. He becomes beholden to that money because, well, they are going to continue to back him, get him into the Party, move him up, groom him. In time, your man becomes their man. Isn't that what's going on? Aren't we seeing a Republican Party that has pretty much failed to deliver for the past few cycles. Haven't they shown an unwillingness to enter into certain frays. Why is that? What are they afraid of? More importantly, what happened to what they said they believed in? I think they've been bought (off). I think they've gotten a whiff of power, influence, perks and it's given them the bug. I don't really see it changing. Sure there are a few that seem to stay apart from it. But what effect are those few against so much CORRUPTION?
So, maybe the answer is "Yeah. Maybe we do need to throw away the whole wardrobe and do some serious shopping." As it stands now, can you really have any confidence in the person you send to Washington, given what we are seeing now? Can you really say you are in favor of the expansion of government that the current crop of REPUBLICANS have overseen? Can you really believe that having watched them drag their feet on immigration they are going to do anything other than to cook up some sham of a plan that will involve more waste, and achieve limited results at best?
I just can't be sure. I've been watching them and they don't impress me.

That's true...but you do not turn them over to a new set of parents who are proven child molesters. And that is the equivalent of changing congressional leadership next year in the midst of a war.
Punish..yes. But keep it in the family. Vote in your primaries against incumbent (R) Senators in particular.
OTOH, think of how the prospects for Republicans in 2008 and far beyond could be vastly improved if the American people had a taste of a 'rat dominated house run by Pelosi for 2 years.
