Current Poll - 13% of members will turn it over to the rats????

Posted on 05/06/2006 9:51:50 AM PDT by Sonora

Current poll:

"A time for choosing: It appears that a significant number of our members are so disgusted with the GOP's failure to secure our borders against illegal aliens that they are willing to risk all by voting them out of office, even if it means Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, et al, are allowed to take charge. Is this the best course of action or should we be working harder than ever to hold the line and actually try to make a difference by getting more constitutionally-minded conservatives elected? Are you willing to give it all up or are you more determined than ever to keep the Marxists out of power?" _____

So far, 13% of members and 18%+ of participants in this poll say - turn it over to the rats. What's with that? I cannot believe that 13% of those posting here are so stupid or angry with what is happening that they would turn to the rats for the way back to perfect. Now, 13% will result in a winning vote, in a lot of cases.

Anyway, I guess that there is no compromising for some people - just dig a hole and live there while the rats are in charge. I'm so disappointed.

Let's say the Republican Party had a platform that was exactly as you wanted it to be, and they could only get 35-40% of the electoral votes and lost every election that mattered? Would you be content to remain forever on the outside looking in?

There are two possibilities here: either my views are forever doomed to be in the minority, or voters simply haven't been educated to the value of my views. I would work to see to it that the voters became educated, instead of buying the dumbed-down socialist claptrap they've been spoon-fed for the last half a century. If, after decades of trying to enlighten them, my views remained in the minority, then I would simply have to accept that America is not what I thought it was, and that it was I who was out of touch, not the voters. At that point, I would probably have to reconsider my stance.

Or would you try to be a little more inclusive right up to the point of winning Presidential elections by the slimmest possible margins?

The last thing I would do is begin to compromise. Either the values are valid or they are not. Pandering to an uneducated electorate to get a guy with your party's banner in the White House is unethical and ultimately ineffective, as George Bush has amply demonstrated in the last six years. I would NOT be more inclusive, right up until I was forced to admit that America simply did not want conservative politicians. At that point, I would still not compromise; I would simply resign from the political process.

Fortunately, I believe that America truly wants conservative politicians. They just aren't smart enough to know it yet.

Or something else?

Something else.

this one had only 2 choices. I'm not much into either/ors or shame polls. I passed on it.

As did I, for the same reason. A "push" poll is not a poll.

No, it's not the best course of action.

But whatever happens to the GOP and Bush, they will only have themselves and thier lack of will and insight to blame.

Never in my life have I seen so much political capital wasted nor an elected majority so intent on defying those who put them in power.

"because not voting is the same as voting for a dem..."

Not necessarily. Besides, what's voting for John McCain the same as?

If McCain had his way, he'd pull the plug on internet message boards prior to an election.

But you say, "That's something Hillary would do."

Yes, but Hillary is a liberal Democrat, so that's a given.

If John McCain is a Republican, he needs to start acting like one.

"The problem with Republican lawmakers is that they interpret low poll numbers as a need to be more like Democrats, rather than a need to be more Conservative." Now there is an illuminating statement!

I checked your sign on date...and it was 1998...

I only signed on in Oct. of 2004....

Could you please tell me if this "close the borders" obsession has been going on since 9/11, here on FR???

I don't remember reading anything about it until this year, when the talk show hosts started complaining every single day...

I am seriously trying to find out from someone that has been here since before 9/11 to let we relative newbies, if this is an old complaint or the "complaint du jour"?

Thank you so much for stating this ! It is the heart of the issue for the next election. How can we forget? Are we no better than the Dems who have forgotten 9/11 ? WE ARE AT WAR WE ARE STILL AT WAR

How anyone can tie President Bush's hands (much less open the doors to impeachment) during a time when we are engaged in combat with the enemy is incomprehensible. It WILL result in a repetition of one of the saddest moments in our history when this country under Democrat party rule abandoned millions of Vietnamese, and killing fields spread throughout southeast Asia.

I am a conservative/libertarian (yes that animal exists), and want to see an alternative to the big gov't ways of the two major parties. But NOW is not the time. We must hold our fire (which does not mean sit on our butts on election day) and see this war through with our President. Sadly, we may only have 2.5 more years to combat world terrorism if we lose power in 2008. LET'S NOT SURRENDER ALREADY IN 2006 !

By the way it only takes one-third of the population to effect change (ask George Washington) and start a new party, and I believe that day will come. For now, we have to be patient and support the troops and the President we elected to fight this WOT. Big or Little Gov't won't matter if we lose our freedoms to terrorists.

Very well said - Great post back at you -

"You would vote for John McCain before you vote for Zell Miller?"

Or Alan Specter ... or Lincoln Chaffee ... or Olympia Snow?

I'm guessing that some diligent Freeper is probably already taking names. The ___kicking will ensue after the elections.

You sound like you are for "cut and run" politics...if you don't get your way in your Party...you cut and run, rather than keep fighting...

I am sure our troops in Iraq will appreciate that.

I must say I certainly want the Democrats to have as little control of this country as possible.

And I will do all I can to stop it from happening.

That being said, God may have other ideas.

I am reminded of the Old Testament where when the Israelites turned away from God, He seemed to allow them to deteriorate. And put in Evil Kings (rulers) that made things hard for them. It seems that was designed to wake them up to their apostasy

When Clinton was first elected my Pastor and I were discussing the fact of how that would be bad for America.

Perhaps because of God being pushed out of schools and Government etc, we speculated if this wasn't a judgment on America.

Sermon over LOL.

"freepers that infiltrate every thread with their "close the borders" stuff are the whiners"

Wanting security makes someone a whiner? If someone demanded you leave your front door open/unlocked at night, every night, would you "whine"? Of course you would, and rightly so.

Why don't you and the PTB here concentrate on GOP leaders who have betrayed us and bemoan that disgusting spectacle and quit simply lamenting and pointing fingers over how pissed we all are at being betrayed by spineless NEW WORLD ORDER lilliputians who are defying their base?
