Current poll:
"A time for choosing: It appears that a significant number of our members are so disgusted with the GOP's failure to secure our borders against illegal aliens that they are willing to risk all by voting them out of office, even if it means Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, et al, are allowed to take charge. Is this the best course of action or should we be working harder than ever to hold the line and actually try to make a difference by getting more constitutionally-minded conservatives elected? Are you willing to give it all up or are you more determined than ever to keep the Marxists out of power?" _____
So far, 13% of members and 18%+ of participants in this poll say - turn it over to the rats. What's with that? I cannot believe that 13% of those posting here are so stupid or angry with what is happening that they would turn to the rats for the way back to perfect. Now, 13% will result in a winning vote, in a lot of cases.
Anyway, I guess that there is no compromising for some people - just dig a hole and live there while the rats are in charge. I'm so disappointed.
The current poll is a push poll designed to obscure the message of the last poll: if the GOP doesn't abandon liberal views on immigration, that slightly over half of conservative voters won't vote GOP.
LOL, what you said in two sentences it took me two paragraphs!
(I think people like me are referred to as "verbose".)
We as a group of conservatives should indeed work harder to get rid of the RINO's that are infesting the Republican party. At the same time if that does not work I can't see why I should vote for those same RINO's if they are the only choice I have between them and the Dem's.
I would rather vote fora thired party or just stay at home on election day.Either way we are screwed.
Not sure where I implied anything of the sort. I'm working to change the Republican party by being very active in working to remove those Republicans who have abandoned conservative principles. This will allow me to work even harder for true conservatives in 08!
That's just something that needs to be repeated again, and again , and again. Thanks.
I hope you are not operating under the assumption that the majority of GOP voters give any more thought to voting than pulling the party lever, as the Dems do. Incumbency rules.
What?
My post was about choices in a Republican primary -- a conservative candidate vs. a centrist candidate.
The voters in the Ohio primary chose the centrist RINO over the conservative by a wide margin. The voters are responsible for their choice. The voters are responsible for what they get.
Simple, really. What other point is there to make?
In '92, I was very mad at Bush 41 too.
I supported Buchanan in the primaries -- I voted for Bush in the general.
The damage from 8 years of Clinton was devastating. We're still paying for it.
Bud you are 110% off base - To suggest GWB and the GOP have become the same as the Democrats is a claim that is 100% intellectually dishonest and anyone who is "willing" to be honest regarding such a silly statement would acknowledge such - That you can't see the difference in character and class alone of this fine POTUS as compared to those in the Democrat leadership speaks volumes about you.
There is a complete difference on how to fight the WOT (between the two). There is a huge difference on taxes, on ANWAR on judges, on the support of life, on the need of assimilation of immigrants, etc, etc, etc.
Lastly your silly suggest that there is "no action" on the border is flat out wrong. There is more happening along our borders in terms of terrorism (stopping WMDs, dirty bombs, profiling, etc) then can be openly talked about (and for very good and valid reasons!). - Think NSA Op that was outed thus making this nation less safe -
Is there an immigration problem. Yes, but that is separate in degree from national security issues being addressed along our borders - And this immigration problem is 40 years in the making -
Furthermore regarding immigration the reality is millions have been turned back over the past 5 years - Those suggesting absolutely "nothing" is being done regarding illegal immigrants are again flat out lying (for no reason, other then an apparent inability to be intellectually honest on this subject).
Who decides who will run in the primaries?
And your point is?
"The ilk of the Democrat party cannot be allowed to hold a majority in any branch of Gov't during this War -
Our soldiers alone deserve better."
Thank you so much for stating this ! It is the heart of the issue for the next election. How can we forget? Are we no better than the Dems who have forgotten 9/11 ?
WE ARE AT WAR WE ARE STILL AT WAR
How anyone can tie President Bush's hands (much less open the doors to impeachment) during a time when we are engaged in combat with the enemy is incomprehensible. It WILL result in a repetition of one of the saddest moments in our history when this country under Democrat party rule abandoned millions of Vietnamese, and killing fields spread throughout southeast Asia.
I am a conservative/libertarian (yes that animal exists), and want to see an alternative to the big gov't ways of the two major parties. But NOW is not the time.
We must hold our fire (which does not mean sit on our butts on election day) and see this war through with our President. Sadly, we may only have 2.5 more years to combat world terrorism if we lose power in 2008.
LET'S NOT SURRENDER ALREADY IN 2006 !
By the way it only takes one-third of the population to effect change (ask George Washington) and start a new party, and I believe that day will come. For now, we have to be patient and support the troops and the President we elected to fight this WOT. Big or Little Gov't won't matter if we lose our freedoms to terrorists.
Besides, we can still prevail on the borders even if Rino's are elected. We have the Minutemen, and I've read reports of fence building on private lands. Besides an election won't change things - unfortunately, all it will take is one border/terrorist incident, and the politicos will find the spine to seal the borders.
Please, let's think of our country first and let President Bush finish the job we elected him to do. Why elect him, and then take away his power to fight?
not me...
I am going to vote for the Constitutional Party in November.
Notwithstanding the validity or invalidity of your other points, the fact remains that many more millions have crossed in than have been turned back.
There are a little over 15,000 men in an army division.
We've got that many coming in every two days or so now.
That's an invasion no matter how you slice it.
I am shocked that so far, over 130 MEMBERS of FR would turn the US Government over to democrats!!
I wish the poll had us give our screen names...
We should be focused on the problem and not give up so easly.
What DEMOCRAT has EARNED your vote??
I wish the poll had us give our screen names...
