Nominations are needed tonight for Free Republic's Culture of Treason Media Awards to be presented tomorrow night outside the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C.
The Culture of Treason Media Awards, aka the Benedict Arnolds, are to be awarded to those reporters and news outlets whose reporting has undermined the efforts by the United States to fight and win the war on terror.
Nominations are needed by 11 p.m. tonight. Voting will start shortly after that and will end at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (tomorrow.)
Some nominations to kick things off:
Mark Knoller of CBS News for failing to report Cindy Sheehan's remarks calling foreigners entering Iraq to wage war against Americans and Iraqis "freedom fighters." Knoller's failure to report her views led to Sheehan being dubbed the "Peace Mom" during her Crawford vigil last year, thus giving our enemies foreign and domestic a propaganda coup.
Newsweek, for its publishing of the false story that a Koran was flushed down a toilet by U.S. forces at Guatanamo, causing anti-American hatred to flare around the world and causing numerous deaths.
Dana Priest of the Washington Post, for reporting on a secret detention system for terrorists that U.S. allies allegedly allowed on their territory. DCI Porter Goss testified that report caused much harm to our national security.
James Risen and Eric Lichtblau of the New York Times, for their reporting on a secret NSA eavesdropping program designed to prevent terror attacks.
Please post you nominations with source links if possible. I didn't because I'm short on time, but these are commonly known to most of us.
NBC's David Gregory for his hissy-fit at Scott McClellan regarding Vice President Cheney's shooting accident. That was insufferable [as is anything else he's ever reported, I'd say], and the hatred that he harbors for President Bush just dripped from his mouth.
The ENTIRE Democrat Party!
Rockefeller when he went to Syria and told them our secrets.
I can't wait to read an AAR. You people make me want to move to DC.

TIM RUSSERT...
...for his letting last Sunday's 'Meet the Press' guest Senator TED KENNEDY get away with saying that there were only about 100,000 Vietnamese casualties after the 1975 Fall of a Free Saigon to Communism,
...instead of the over 3,000,000 casualties that actually did occur at the hands of the Communists.
Casualties brought about by a younger Senator TED KENNEDY's fooling Congress into cutting off all our funding for the South Vietnamese Militay to fight for their own Freedom with...
...just as the Communist Soviet Union gave Communist North Vietnam over $6,000,000,000 in Military Aid. Aid that translated into 600 heavy Soviet Tanks and lots of mobile Artillery pieces coming down thru the Ho Chi Minh Trail for a 'Final Solution' in the South.
NOTE: 600 tanks were more tanks than Gen GEORGE S. PATTON needed to win World War II with in Europe..!!!
Shame on TIM RUSSERT, for SHAME.

.
John Farmer rom the Newark Star Ledger for bashing Bush in every column he has written since Jan 20, 2001.
I nominate Arlen Specter for being the turn-coat he has always been...
R-U-S-S-E-R-T bump.
Chris Mathews deserves because he's deserving.
Bill Clinton is not a reporter, but no Culture Of Treason award ceremony would be complete without nominating him for something.
This an oldy but a goody; Ellen "the rat" Ratner when she said live on Fox "I hope George Bush FAILS in this war". How many of our boys does she want dead????
Ann Scott Tyson of the Washington Post for non-stop drumming about US defeat in Iraq. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A48306-2005Mar18.html
CNN for its endless polls against the battle for freedom: http://edition.cnn.com/2005/US/05/03/iraq.poll/index.html
Helen Thomas for accusing the Bush administration of supporting prisoner torture. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/234204_thomas28.html
The New York Times about the "nightmare" of Abu Ghraib. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/03/opinion/03MON1.html
Seems there will be a lot of ties for first.
For the Commentary category, I nominate David Corn for being the first columnist to reveal (erroneously) that Valerie Plame was "undercover".
John Kerry for saying American soldiers "terrorize" Iraqis and violate their customs.
The New York Communist Times for revealing the existence of the NSA wiretapping program.
The Catholic Church, labor unions, Big Business, and the liberal media for inciting an illegal immigrant invasion.
George W. Bush for refusing to deport any of the 20 million illegal aliens.
George Clooney for his blatantly anti-American movie, "Syriana."
Unfortunately, one could go on forever.
Is this treason? Can treason be ok if it is morally justified? Is it no longer treason?
1) The Benton area of Northeastern Pennsylvania is very conservative. During the Civil War they sympathized with the South, and received the name "Fishing Creek Confederacy." Some of them actually went and fought for the confederacy. One young person told me about his great grandfather's diary. The ancestor was a teenager who joined the confederate army and committed homosexual acts. After that point, they stopped reading the diary. Was this treason?
2) Were some southerners were executed as traitors? Were the southern confederates treasonous?
3) "George W. Bush for refusing to deport any of the 20 million illegal aliens." Really?
4) The British considered the American Founding Fatehrs treasonous to the oaths they swore to the crown.
5) Thomas Paine supported the French Revolution. Were the French Revolutionaries traitors?
6) If French Intelligence has information on Saddam's Iraq (or another country) and gives it to US intelligence without permission because he knows it is necessary for the US army's success, is it treason?
7) If a citizen of a democratic Latin American country gives US intelligence secrets and there are hostile relations between the countries, is it treason?
Thank you.
Patrick Leahy (a mole), Joseph Wilson & Valerie Plame, Slick and Mrs. Willy, Sandy Burglar, The entire Congressional Black Caucus, Richard Durbin, John Kerry, The Swimmer, Chuck Schumer, Jimmy Carter, Richard Ben-Veniste, Jamie Gorelick, Al Gore...
