Nominations are needed tonight for Free Republic's Culture of Treason Media Awards to be presented tomorrow night outside the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C.
The Culture of Treason Media Awards, aka the Benedict Arnolds, are to be awarded to those reporters and news outlets whose reporting has undermined the efforts by the United States to fight and win the war on terror.
Nominations are needed by 11 p.m. tonight. Voting will start shortly after that and will end at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (tomorrow.)
Some nominations to kick things off:
Mark Knoller of CBS News for failing to report Cindy Sheehan's remarks calling foreigners entering Iraq to wage war against Americans and Iraqis "freedom fighters." Knoller's failure to report her views led to Sheehan being dubbed the "Peace Mom" during her Crawford vigil last year, thus giving our enemies foreign and domestic a propaganda coup.
Newsweek, for its publishing of the false story that a Koran was flushed down a toilet by U.S. forces at Guatanamo, causing anti-American hatred to flare around the world and causing numerous deaths.
Dana Priest of the Washington Post, for reporting on a secret detention system for terrorists that U.S. allies allegedly allowed on their territory. DCI Porter Goss testified that report caused much harm to our national security.
James Risen and Eric Lichtblau of the New York Times, for their reporting on a secret NSA eavesdropping program designed to prevent terror attacks.
Please post you nominations with source links if possible. I didn't because I'm short on time, but these are commonly known to most of us.
Have fun, FRiend! Give 'em hell!
Thanks! They've earned it.
What is the representative time span? 2005? Cuz I'd like to nominate the world famous Dan Rather....
Helen seems to me, to be THE most overt traitor in "journalism" today.
I nominate......Representative John Murtha, for belittling US, Coalition & Iraqi efforts to stamp out the terrorism in the Middle East.
2005 to the present. No politicians, please. This is a media award.
Dick Durbin for comparing American interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to Nazis and other historically infamous figures.

John Kerry Calls American Troops Terrorists

Ahh, hell, almost anything she says qualifies.
Ok The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Herald News.
Robert Fiske
Two more words:
Dana Priest
L
The whole gang who first published the Valerie Plame story and who continue to milk it today. That may not be the most egregious story, but it desrves an honorable mention, at least.
I nominate Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair magazine and severe Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferer, James Woolcott, and Michael Wolff for their slanted and biased attacks on the decisions taken by the Bush administration during the war on terror, while never mentioning the errors and lack of action against terrorists of other administrations and their various cabinet departments and agencies. For example, the magazine has run puff pieces on those liars Joe Wilson and Richard Clarke.
Sorry I don't have details - but whoever was most responsible at the NYT for blowing the NSA program? Pinch?
Can we have public hangings? Or at least public stocks??? Doesn't seem like these nominees will receive the proper 'recognition' of their efforts otherwise.
