UNITED 93 FReeper Reviews
self | April 28, 2006 | RobFromGa

Posted on 04/28/2006 1:21:50 PM PDT by RobFromGa

Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.

It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.

The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.

In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.

There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.

Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

I give in 9.5/10!

I would take my 13-year old, though he's now 22.

This movie is a very sobering reminder of the type of people that are willing to killing huge numbers of civilians for furthering their political and religious aims. It is time to confront this issue before a nuclear-armed Iran kills perhaps several million people at the push of a few buttons to launch ballistic missiles aimed at Israel and most of Europe.

I saw the Passion of Christ this Easter. I actually bougth the movie, thinking I would play it every Easter for my son. Evidently I will not do it till he is an adult.

Anyways, I will try to see Flight 93 today, knowing that, although I don't like it, my money will be well spent.

sounds like it should be shown in high school history classes .

Good idea, but it will never happen.

To DUmmies, it's a piece of propaganda.

They are waiting for the truth from Oliver Stone.

I will repeat what I noted in an earlier thread. If I saw a teen wanting to see this movie, I'd not only give him/her the "parental escort", I'd GLADLY pay their way in.

This is a movie that everyone should be seeing!

I'll be sure to see it. The left is not happy. They are trying desperately to find something negative to say about it. "Too soon" (translation - we don't want Bush to get any benefit)
"intense" (and the events of that morning were not intense?)

If they had their way, they would have changed it to a story about a Christian (wearing a cross, of course) about to blow up an abortion clinic but being thwarted by a couple of the "alternate lifestyle", and named it United 93 Mountain.

"Where did you see evidence of a jetliner crash? I've never seen it. All I've seen is a small, charred hole.. No aircraft parts, no body parts, no fire. Nothing. Same deal at the Pentagon."

Probably believes that the Holocaust was faked, too.

I'll bet this same Moonbat thought Fahrenheit 9/11 and The Day After Tomorrow were "documentaries"!

I just saw it - a truly excellent film, captures the confusion of the day, the unthinkability of it, and the plain stony violence and inhumanity of the crazed Muslims. The scenes with the passengers saying their good-byes to their families over the phone is the hardest to watch, but it was not played for effect. It was what it was, I think.

And yet there are still people in this country in denial. People who have somehow managed to forget or twist the whole event into some fantastic fantasy.

I skipped class today to see it this afternoon at the earliest showing. It is absolutely heart-wrenching. To be honest, I don't understand the R rating... its violent and has some swearing, but nothing like an average pg-13 horror movie. Blunt, but fitting and by far the most gripping movie I've seen in a long time... I'd give it 10/10.

Good news: those in denial are few and far between.

And they would probably be dead right now if it weren't for the rest of us, our government, our service men and women, etc.

Not certain if I will see the movie. Might be too much.

I took my 15yo twins this morning. The theatre was not at all crowded, but then it was 10:00 a.m.
My greatest fear as I left was that this would become simply another "Airport" movie. The kids didn't start talking about it until we were at lunch. Maybe they just needed the time to absorb all of it.
The most gripping moments for me were the scenes depicting the panic at the control centers and the FAA central command. The people there were emotionally torn to shreds from the helplessness. The people on board United 93, while doomed, were at least able to affect an outcome.

Random thoughts on United 93
-Excellent movie, well worth seeing.
-I think it tends to glorify the murderers, at least in the minds of Muslims, it shows them devoutly and reverently saying their prayers in preparation for their mission. I disagree with those who say the terrorists are treated "neutrally".

-One shot has the lead hijacker walking through the airport, he passes by a poster on the wall. The camera focuses briefly on the poster, it has some kind of decadent, sexual content. Message: The west has it coming for this kind of moral decay.

-Realistically captures the confusion at command centers. People may be critical of the Federal response that morning, but they are forgetting that this was a well executed surprise attack, and confusion is the nature of a surprise attack. The film captures this very well, I was proud of the relatively quick response of the responsible officials.

-The moment of clarity came that morning when the second plane hit the second tower. That's when everyone knew we were at war. Movie captures this moment brilliantly.

-The biggest political point made by the movie is the hilarious Euro-weenie with a dutch accent who pleads for everyone not to provoke these men and we'll all be safe. This after they already murdered a few passengers. The Euro-weenie continues to make the ocassional ineffective comment, while real Americans are preparing to take action.

-I love the unravelling of the hijackers as they realize that the passengers are blowing them off and plotting something. The terrorists become the terrorized.

-The film does a first rate job of creating tension start to finish, it's a real nail biter, even though you know what happens.

-When the passengers rolled, there was applause and cheering in my theater, it was a stirring moment. Makes one proud to be an American

I heard many of the DUmmies on C-SPAN this morning calling up Washington Journal(the topic was this film) and claiming they will not go see the movie because they are too smart to fall for more of'' Bush's propaganda and lies..''They claim Bush blew up the twin towers and flight 93 was shot down, and no plane flew into the Pentagon. In other words 911 never really happened.......I thought they were just weird before but after listening to so many of them saying the same thing I am convinced many of the Dummies need to seek serious mental help!FAST!
