UNITED 93 FReeper Reviews
self | April 28, 2006 | RobFromGa

Posted on 04/28/2006 1:21:50 PM PDT by RobFromGa

Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.

It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.

The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.

In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.

There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.

Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

I give in 9.5/10!

Soliciting comments from other Freepers who saw it.

There were about 25 people at the showing I was at 1:50pm in the Atlanta suburbs-- half men, half women, all older than 35.

Everybody should support this movie, it is NOT too soon. It may be too LATE.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I want to take my 13 yr old. son. Would you say it's too much for that age? He's pretty mature.

Saw it today in Fresno. The violence and cruelty of the hijackers is eye opening. It's a good example of what our servicemembers are facing in Iraq. Everyone MUST see this movie. I am so proud of Todd Beamer and the other heroes.

Thanks for starting this. My 14-y/o Freeper Junior son really wants to see this. He stops whatever he's doing when the commercial for the movie comes on TV. He is truly determined to see this, even if it is intense. I think he should be ok. I'll post back when we've seen it.

Just got back from seeing it in Seattle, WA. It's pretty much of a documentary. I just started feeling tense from the beginning of the movie, and stayed that way until the end. A good, neutral, factual movie.

I think it will be fine for a mature 13 year old. I tend to think that as long as they are old enough to understand what we are fighting for, and who we are at war against, then they are old enough to see this movie which tries to explain it in pictures.

I'm curious to hear what the DUmmies say about this movie, but I don't have enough self loathing to go over there and look.

How many people in Seattle, that must have been pretty early there.

Crowd was somber leaving the theater, no talking.

SEE IT THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE 10% of the GROSS REVENUE WILL GO TO THE MEMEORIAL FUND, as per Neil Cavuto's show with Todd Beamer's father, David Beamer and US Rep. Shuster, (R) PA.

The DUmmies won't go see it, if they do they'll probably think that if the idiot passengers hadn't stormed the cockpit, they would have all been spared...

I've got to leave now, looking forward to hearing from more of you later tonight!

We did have War movies played during WWII. Many more in the couple years afterward. He is not too young.
