Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.
It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.
The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.
In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.
There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.
Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

The annoying guy with the swedish accent and the "if we don't provoke them they won't hurt us" attitude. I wanted to beat the hell out of that guy.
Sounded Dutch or German but a backhanded slap against the European appeasement mentality.
I watched it this afternoon. It was a fantastic portrayal not only of the heroes of Flight 93, but of the chaos and confusion that was spawned at all levels. Listening to the idiots on the left and fat boy's whining of Bush reading the book, it is obvious how stupid and politically corrupt they are. Nothing had hit us like the events of that day, nobody had a clear grasp, yet the ignoramuses of the left claim that Bush didn't act quickly enough.
This movie should be mandatory in high school and college history going forward. This movie cannot help but educate the young on just how horrific and tragic the day was, and how evil the enemy is!

I read that thread... pretty unbelievable. I expect the posters trying to cut down on the tin foil frenzy to be tombstoned soon.
If these morons had a clue, they would discover that if an airplane, any size, is exceeding the "never exceed" speed, pieces will fall off of it. Hence a debris field leading to the crash site.
And, airplanes are made of aluminum, not the stuff the black boxes are made of. Go fast enough straight at the ground, and you'll get a hole with very few pieces. Did they expect them to land Flight 93 at normal approach speeds, so the aircraft can be left intact.
Sometimes I think they're a Rovian invention, designed to make the far left look especially idiotic.

We just came back from seeing United 93...
What an emotional experience, others have stated that this is THE movie that everyone HAS to see, I agree.
I was choked up, ticked off, and very proud all at the same time...Fanatics cannot be reasoned with, they must be dealt with, and as this movie vividly illustrates, they must be dealt with quickly and with finality.
There is no appeasement with monsters, even if they look and dress like us they are intent on their singular purpose.
When they showed the second plane hit the towers you could FEEL the response in the theater and as the heroes on that flight were striking back you feel your blood begin to boil. You find yourself rooting for them to GET TO THE CABIN in your head, even though you know already what the outcome is...each and everyone that was on board that flight deserves whatever the highest medal there is available to be given to them if that hasn't already been done.
God Bless these people...the first heroes in this War On Terror.
Saw 9:45 pm showing on friday. Small theatre, small audience. I was surprised at how little was understood about what was happening and shocked at the poor communication between agencies and the military.
I already knew this, but it is scary to think there were only 4 armed fighters defending the east coast that day. I hope that has changed.
Was well done with more of a documentary feel. Like some poster already said, it was more like you were there than watching. Of course the tension is tremendous as we know what is going to happen.
The terrorists were not portrayed as turban-wearing camel jockeys, but seemed almost non-descript at the beginning.
I was stuck by the scene of one of the murderers praying with his hands open in front of him, forearms and palms covered with the blood of innocents (pilots, attendant or passenger). There was a lot of praying and crying on board, and perhaps a little less confusion than on the ground.
Moving and profoundly sad. I will have that drink now. And pray especially for all the passengers on the 4 planes that morning.

I knew it was going to be tough watching it. It was. I have forgotten about what happened and who did it on 9/11. I ain't forgetting no more.
The anger that was there on 9/11 is rekindled..and it's mighty hot now.
I couldn't stay and watch the credits..I was angry and I was crying/sobbing.
Never had a film impact me so much.
Never, never, ever forget what happened on 9/11.
And they weren't armed either. If a fighter had intercepted any of the planes, it would have been necessary to collide with it to cause enough damage to cause it to crash before reaching its target. It's not quite a kamikaze mission but close.
saw the movie this evening, 7:30 show, about 100 people there. Excellent movie, and it will make you feel angry. You could hear a still silence when the 2nd Trade Center tower was hit. When the movie ends, it's very abrupt.
I am so proud of those on the plane who stopped the terrorists. Our nation owes them a debt which cannot be repaid.
The movie portrays the passengers as oblivious to the fact that the pilots were not flying the aircraft until quite a while into the hijacking.
Until that and the suicide nature of the act was realized, appeasement of the hijackers would be the safest bet. Of course, now, post 9/11, even I (an out of shape 47 year old woman) believe I would brandish my 8 lb laptop and charge.
Hopefully I'll never have to find out if I'm that brave.
