IRVINE, California (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Monday he doubted a "massive deportation" of foreigners living illegally in the United States would solve the country's immigration woes, as he tried to revive prospects for an election-year agreement in the divided U.S. Congress.
Senators returned to Washington on Monday from a two-week recess after Democrats and Republicans were unable to reach a compromise on what to do about an estimated 11.5 million to 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

The truth hurts to the FR deportation crowd, I surmise.
As far as I'm concerned the companies that hire the illegals should pay the cost of repatriating them to their home country.
Give the illegal 60 days to make his plans and a couple of thousand dollars (Paid by the offending company) that should give him plenty of time and a good start in making his way in Mexico.
IN what way does the analogy to totalitarian methods NOT reflect the yells of certain fringe elements who are calling for all illegals to be rounded up...how is that different from the actions of Nazis and Commies?
"The only valid argument in favor of stricter immigration laws are the ones relating to terrorists."
Valid? LOL. No need for "stricter" immigration laws, when the ones we have are not being enforced; they're just blown off with a wink and a nudge.
You're histrionic, you need help, your post was pulled because it was offensive, childish nonsense.
Yeah, my bad.
"how is that different from the actions of Nazis and Commies?"
They targeted their own people for extermination. We're attempting to get our own government to enforce its own immigration laws.
Making friends every day, right dane?
Make it a felony to be in-country illegally, put the owners of the companies using illegals in jail, cut off the free healthcare and welfare, get rid of the anchor baby b.s. and the criminal illegal alien invaders will be driving those shiny new pickups and Blazers right back across the border just as fast as they can get through the lines at the bridges.
Of course, if they try to stay and get caught, they can still contribute by serving their two years prison time working on the Border Fence Project.
Gotta think Win-Win there Dane...
The idea is to make the Mexicans want to go back on their own, not to just round them all up. And I don't think Mexico can refuse re-entry to its own citizens.
Uh no, it is recent history(massive deportation of European Jews during WWII).
This is a False Choice, which is a Logical Fallacy. We don't have to deport all of them, just enough to put The Fear into them. As others have posted, busting companies that knowingly hire them will go a long way toward mitigating the problem.
But the most important action is to secure the borders. Build a wall/fence that is difficult to pass through.
But if want to use Germans
...if 12 million illegal German's were moving it to the old Silesia area of modern Poland
...and they were talking about reforming the greater German Reich.....
Uh, the Commies rounded up the law-abiding, whereas we wish to round up those engaged in illegal activity?
That deserves a
Your solution, which is obvious to anybody with one good eye and a grain of sense, just plumb evades the so-called "leadership". Republicans are going to lose bigger than hell over this and nothing of the conservative agenda will ever pass again because we will have a flood of Democrat illegals given the right to vote. It ain't gonna be pretty from here on in.
No need for "stricter" immigration laws, when the ones we have are not being enforced;

I do not disagree. Enforce the laws we already have.
Missed the post--any clues to give about its content.
Bush: Massive deportation of migrants won't work
There's that `can do' spirit (sarcasm). . . .
but I don't recall him swearing to uphold and defend the Constitution: ". . . except for that messy southwest border invasion thing, not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent."
I must have been distracted, watching "Slick" `saw logs'.
With the way the Media is playing this up and the hype and sensationalism with this....W is most likely correct in a very different way.
Where are the Conservatives with all the money? Why didn't they buy up the air waves?
This is totally insane.
