IRVINE, California (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Monday he doubted a "massive deportation" of foreigners living illegally in the United States would solve the country's immigration woes, as he tried to revive prospects for an election-year agreement in the divided U.S. Congress.
Senators returned to Washington on Monday from a two-week recess after Democrats and Republicans were unable to reach a compromise on what to do about an estimated 11.5 million to 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Bush is full of crap.
Round 'em up and head out.
It's not OK for me to buy cheaper medicine in Canada but it's OK to get cheap labor from Mexico?
... W let give it a shot... I'll drive if you buy
Feeding the troll is always an exercise in futility.
That's it, and Congress can use it as an opportunity to loot the companies by means fines. They don't hesitate to use hefty fines, or even asset forfeiture, when it is an available remedy (which it may not be in this context).
Do 100 raids like the "1200 employees and three managers" raid the other day, and you would not believe how fast millions of people will be moving back home.
Are those two things morally equivalent to you? That seems a bit twisted.
I am so embarrassed that I campaigned for this president, twice! I actually got an "official invitation" to his first inaugeration, but was too busy rallying to stop Gore from stealing the election to make plans to go. I know that the alternative was worse (Gore or Kerry), but what are we to do?! I am voting third party in 2006 to teach a lesson for 2008. I can't give the current Senate-Republicans a "that-a-boy" with my vote this year. The Republican era is over, I'm afraid.
Oh, for crying out loud, listen to yourself, Dane. You're comparing a deliberate campaign of extermination, by sending legal, Jewish citizens to death camps, with our sending gate crashers back to their country of origin, where they can apply to return through through proper legal channels.
This will no doubt be highly offensive to Jewish people.
You've hit all of the key points exactly right. Cut off the motivation to come here.

Actually sheana in her reply #3 asked if mass deportation had ever been tried, and I showed her that it has during WW II.
Hey maybe you all can research the nazi deportation methods and improve on them.
BTW, I see the railcar photo has been removed. I guess the truth of the most efficent deportation in history hurts to some, while they call for the same thing.
You missed the talking point memo. Its not "old and meaningless" . It is a "living document" which should be interpretated to modern mores when it suits liberal discretion.
Remember the exodus just following 9-11 when the rumor started that the U.S. would be drafting illegals to serve in a war zone. Make that fact and they will also leave.
I agree with you on post number 8, but was the post so bad that it needed removal by a moderator? Give me a break! Moderators, in my opinion, should be using the removal remedy for serious offenses such as gorey posts and sexual/offensive posts.
"Hey maybe you all can research the nazi deportation methods and improve on them."
You've gone completely insane, haven't you?
Why on earth was that photo removed?
Thanks for posting that photo, Dane, but I fear that emotions run high and nothing short of massive roundups will satisfy the anti immigrant sentiment around.
It is easy to point fingers at those who supposedly take American jobs..nothing could be further from the truth but you already know that---it's called scapegoating. I hear it from certain lazies who complain about not finding work so they blame the "Mexicans".
The only valid argument in favor of stricter immigration laws are the ones relating to terrorists. But they fall flat too. In fact, terrorists can come here legally and easily from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, ad nauseum, on airliners through airports etc.
Mr Mojo is right. If you punish companies that hire illegal workers, they'll stop hiring. Simple enough to do, using social security and tax reports.
If you stop giving them free schooling, free hospital care except in dire emergencies, in-state tuition rates not available to American citizens, and welfare benefits for which they are not qualified, it will also discourage them.
States that insist on handing out massive benefits, like California, should get no help or reimbursement from the federal government.
You will still have a few illegals, but then the situation will be controllable, and you can use normal law enforcement procedures. The reason we have all these illegals here in the first place is earlier amnesties, and widespread refusal to enforce our existing laws.
I am confused... I am a newbie here.
If you disagree with the prevailing view, is it the standard answer to call them a "troll" or ignore them?
I made the mistake of taking a moderate position on "the wall" and got called "troll", "stupid" and various other Ad-hominem attacks in my first set of postings.
So what is the proper way to post an opposite opinion here?
Or do we just not post opposite views to avoid getting flamed or called names?
Go to this link and you can research to your hearts content, the most "efficient" method in modern times.
Once Mexico refuses to admit the forcely-repatriated millions, there will be mass issuing of work permits to these illegal aliens, turning then into de facto legal immigrants.
Do you really think that Mexico will allow such internal turmoil caused by massive deportations?
Women, too? Old people? Children? Don't see how that would work.
