A new audiotape from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will be aired today on the Arabic news station al Jazeera, the organisation claims.

You said -- Nothing wrong with that if you make it "militant Islam".
That's the "fallacy of the West". There is no such thing as "militant Islam". There is only Islam and non-Islam. There is no middle ground -- or you don't have Islam. The radicals know it, the people (of Islam) on the street know it, the Muslims over here in the U.S. know it -- only we don't know it.
The only question is -- "How long before the rest of Islam joins in and starts terrorizing?"

Well, I'd guess that he's just sending these things to total strangers who have no idea of the who/what/where's of them. OR we're trying to get a bead on him by allowing this line of communication open.
I was 3 months old (my brother was 4) when my dad went off to war in 1944 together with his 7 brothers. They all came home. Life went on. We were protected at the time. Nobody talked about the war in front of us. We were lucky kids.
Can you guarantee that leaving the border as wide open as it is now isn't allowing OBL people from invading?

Well, an atomic blast in a major U.S. city is not the world I would want to live in. And sure..., people go on and survive. But, it would take a few generations to reclaim the standing we had before -- if we could ever do it. I just think -- that given the situation in the world today -- that the world would bypass us (in our scrambling to survive) and we would just be another "has been" nation -- in the history books.
But, yes..., we would survive. It's just not the place I would want to be any more.
Then again -- the world of the Book of Revelation is not the place I would want to be either -- and that's coming. It's all building right now before our eyes. God is definitely bringing the world to the place of Armageddon -- with a little help from Osama.

In some repects I agree. I still don't think he's got hands on direction of the terrorist operations on a day to day basis. He has not been able to repeat in five years. Other than his short pathetic low grade video tape rantings, he's really not been much use to 'the cause'.
If Saddam had existed in his spider-hole for another five years, would that have been a major accomplishment? Eh, I'm not quite convinced it would have been. Essentially that's all Laden has accomplished IMO.

Given the politics I see in the U.S., along with the virulent anti-God group -- that's not such a far-fetched idea.

So, since we will not give money to one of his sister terrorist organizations, we are the big bad Christian crusaders. What a joke. We are on a crusade, but it is not against innocent men and women, it's against the terrorists and those who support and abett them.
The Iraqi people have come to realize this and are fighting his ilk themselves. A majority of the people in Palestine, a small area of the world that has been indoctrinated for decades has voted for Hamas to lead them and they will come to regret that.
But Bin Laden is desperate and this is all he has to try and create the "HolY War" that he wants amongst the rest of the general Islamic population.
It's not working.
He and his extremists continue to be very dangerous and need to be hunted down and destroyed...but they are losing and they know it.
As much as I wish all this was all Al-Qaeda propoganda, Bin Laden doesn't appear to work that way.
Frankly, I believe they are completely focused and able to deliver us a significant hit. Unfortunately, I think they can probably obtain anything they want. They have the money, determination, and plenty of folks in the world that hate our guys.
His focus on the recent tape is indeed ominous. Almost pre-excusing his next attack on us.

Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden issued an ominous new statement on AlJazeera television, appearing to justify attacks on civilians in the West.
"I say that this war is the joint responsibility of the people and the governments. While the war continues, the people renew their allegiance to their rulers and politicians and continue to send their sons to our countries to fight us," bin Laden said in an audio tape.
The al-Qaeda chieftain, who last issued a message via the satellite television broadcaster on January 19, said the people of Western countries were equally responsible with their governments for what he called "a Zionist (Jewish) crusaders (Christian) war on Islam".
He further said that the Western cut off of funds to the Palestinian Hamas-led government proved the US and Europe were at war with all Islamic people.
"The blockade which the West is imposing on the government of Hamas proves that there is a Zionist (Jewish) crusaders (Christian) war on Islam," the tape said.
It was the first new message from bin Laden since January 19. That tape was posted in full on a website a month later and included a vow by the terrorist leader never to be captured alive.
"I have sworn to only live free. Even if I find bitter the taste of death, I don't want to die humiliated or deceived," bin Laden said, in the 11 minute, 26 second tape.
In that message, bin Laden offered the United States a long-term truce but also said his al-Qaeda terror network would soon launch a fresh attack on American soil.
Says US cutting off funds to Palestine because Hamas won the election proves the US is at war with Islam; calls it a Zionist conspiracy against Islam.
So? He declared war on us long before this. I really don't care what he says our intentions are. I am at war with Islam.
That's okay. Your premise is that Iraqis are Muslem so therefore they hate us. I'm not convinced that is true. I know that many people are.
I do recognize that a certain percentage of Moslems do dispise us and so I think it's wise to limit entry into our own nation based on that reality.

That's not the aim of Islam, you see. The aim of Islam is not to feed the poor. It's not to give freedom to the downtrodden. It's to *subjugate* them and to make Islam the pre-eminent relgion over all the world. And since they don't separate religion and government -- that means having Islam as the government of the entire world.
Once you understand who the "god" of Islam is -- you understand why Satan does not want to feed the poor. You understand that he wants to control the whole world.
This is the classic battle of the Bible -- Satan railing against God, and God giving him his "time" until he is destroyed.

It's always audio which makes me skeptical that the guy is even alive.
oh I believe he's alive - all the audio tapes were verified by our guys and they usually are up to date in what is happening. I think he gives audio tapes when he's in Afghanistan or in transit from one country to the next. When he does video tapes I believe he's in either Iran or Syria nice and safe where we don't go.
