All FReepers and lurkers in good standing are invited to join the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic at our 8th annual freep of the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, April 29, 2006 in Washington, D.C.
This is our most fun freep of the year. You never know who in the media and political world you'll meet there. Over the years, we've met and debated the likes of Al Franken, razzed Paul Begala and James Carville, been filmed by Drew Barrymore, cheered on Fox News reporters and freeped the liberal media with humor and serious barbs.
Afterward, we retire to the hotel where the dinner is held and watch it on TV in the bar while we dine and relax with our FRiends.
When: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April29, 2006
Where: Across from the Washington Hilton, 1900 Connecticut Avenue and T Street, NW, Washington D.C.
This is a rain or shine event.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; News/Current Events; US: District of Columbia; US: Maryland; US: Virginia

However, it's my birthday and we're making it a day in NYC.

Hi.. If my plans go right(rarely do, but there is always a first) I & friend (80 year old FReeper & WW2 vet!) will meet you at Walter Reed... will be there for next days two FReeps also. I think this would be a SUPER THRILL for him! (well, me too!)
Question. Please help us get to Walter Reed. We will be coming in via Rockville etc from Ohio. I know I could do map quest etc. but I believe you or someone from DC, will be better able to give decent directions
Never been to Walter Reed.
thanks!
If anyone has a "WW2 VET supports our troops" sign for Bill (Freeper Wheelbarrow) - that would be great. Don't make one special. Will let you know for sure if we are going to be there. He has been with our group for local FReeps & the GWB election FReeps.
Thanks
