Last night, radio talk show host and former US Justice Department official Mark Levin shocked many listeners when he reported that President Bill Clinton gave nuclear technology to the Iranians in a harebrained scheme.
He said that the transfer of classified data to Iran was personally approved by then-President Clinton and that the CIA deliberately gave Iranian physicists blueprints for part of a nuclear bomb that likely helped Tehran advance its nuclear weapons development program.
The CIA, using a double-agent Russian scientist, handed a blueprint for a nuclear bomb to Iran, according to a new book "State of War" by James Risen, the New York Times reporter, who exposed the Bush administration's controversial NSA spying operation, claims the plans contained fatal flaws designed to derail Tehran's nuclear drive.

I am waiting for this to appear in Slate. clinton could not get Pellicano to find any dirt on the Iranian's or the Mullahs to blackmail them, so he tried bribery.
Of course clinton asked Bush for his advice, so this is also Bush's fault.

Actually, the Nuclear build up in Iran started with President Ford in the seventies when he offered and assisted with the development of the reactor in Bushehr.
President Clinton vetoed legislation on Iranian sanctions in the late ninties. Offering blueprints for nuclear. Slick Willy's a putz, but that really sounds far fetched. More information would be needed, then we can really skewer Clinton righteously.

Let's see, isn't this a part of the "bridge to the 21st century"? Let's consider the key elements in that "bridge" in no particular order:
Emasculate the military so that it can no longer conduct wars in 2 different theaters simultaneously.
Make sure there's a good "wall" to prevent our intelligence agencies from sharing info on potential terrorists.
Ignore all of the key terrorist attacks during the 1990's. Kick that can down the road.
Ignore addressing the needed reforms in the main entitlement programs that the Democrats still view as their great contributions to society. Kick that can down the road.
Lie and subvert to hide illegal and criminal behavior -- providing a great example for the Enrons, Worldcoms and other shams that were growing in the boom-boom 1990's.
Sell missile technology to the Chicoms for campaign donations.
Sell access to the president for campaign donations (coffee anyone?).
Open the flood-gates to new citizens so that they can vote in 1996/2000.
Give pardons to people who shovel money into the President and First Lady's pockets, campaigns and presidential libraries. But make sure you have FBI files on friends and foes so you can revisit them in the future. And use taxpayer moneys to establish a really good database for future fund-raising.
Hand-off a busting stock market bubble and recession to incoming Bush Administration.
And, oh yeah, trash the White House as you're packing up and moving to your new "home" in Chappaqua.
Boy, could this list go on and on...
Lets not forget Serbia...Clinton took the wrong side there also.
Why is this only America's problem? When are the other nations of the world, who have as much to lose as we do, going to get off their behinds and act?
I predict the number of stupid responses will outweight the intelligent ones by at least 20% since the crux of the article is not contained in the headline or first sentence.

Clinton Scheme Gave Iran Nuke Blueprints
In a hairbrained scheme that was personally approved by then-President Clinton, the CIA deliberately gave Iranian physicists blueprints for part of a nuclear bomb that likely helped Tehran advance its nuclear weapons development program.
The allegation, detailed in the new book "State of War," by New York Times reporter James Risen, comes as the Iranian nuclear crisis appears to be coming to a head, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urging that Israel be "wiped off the map" and his government announcing last week that it will resume uranium enrichment on Monday.
Reports Risen: "It's not clear who originally came up with the idea, but the plan [to give Tehran nuclear blueprints] was first approved by Clinton."
Beginning in February 2000, the CIA recruited a Russian scientist who had defected to the US years earlier. His mission: Take the nuclear blueprints to Vienna to sell them - or simply give them - to the Iranian representatives for the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Dubbed "Operation Merlin," the plan was supposed to steer Iranian physicists off track by incorporating design flaws in the blueprints that would render the information worthless.
But in what may turn out to be one of the greatest foreign policy blunders of all time, Operation Merlin backfired when the Russian scientist spotted the design flaws immediately - and even offered to help Iran fix the problems.
Risen said the Clinton-approved plan ended up handing Tehran "one of the greatest engineering secrets in the world, providing the solution to one of a handful of problems that separated nuclear powers such as the United States and Russia from rogue countries such as Iran that were desperate to join the nuclear club but had so far fallen short."
He noted that thanks to the bizarre operation, Iran could now "leapfrog one of the last remaining engineering hurdles blocking its path to a nuclear weapon."
Ironically, Risen's New York Times has declined to cover Mr. Clinton's Iranian nuclear debacle - concentrating instead on his book's dubious claims that the National Security Agency was first authorized to commence domestic wiretapping by President Bush.
Still, with Operation Merlin going so badly off track, "State of War's" revelations certainly warrant the kind of full blown congressional investigation now planned for the wiretap pseudo-scandal.
Risen's report could also have a serious implications for Sen. Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. Mrs. Clinton has been sharply critical of President Bush's handling of the Iranian nuclear crisis, complaining that a nuclear-armed Tehran would be a much more serious threat to the U.S. than Iraq.

Merlin first NGO to reach rebel-held areas in south-eastern Liberia

Merlin, the UK-based international medical relief charity is the first NGO to provide emergency medical services in rebel-held Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County and Greenville, Sinoe County, in Liberia. This move follows a rapid assessment of the south-eastern region by Merlin, which found health facilities looted, medical staff displaced and virtually no health services operating in many areas, due to rebel activities.
Merlin has begun providing emergency treatment at three clinics in Zwedru - the main centre for MODEL (Movement for Democracy) operations in the south-eastern region – which, despite a population of around 125,000, has no doctor. The nearest referral centre for Grand Gedeh County is 140 km from Zwedru, in Guiglo, Ivory Coast.

There was a movie where Saddam threatened the west with nuclear weapons he developed from plans supplied by the CIA. The President stood up to Saddam's bluff, that we would attack him with nucs if he launched his nucs. Saddam launched and we launched. With Saddam on the phone, the President informed him that the plans he got wouldn't work as Saddam's warhead failed to go off, while ours, with 50 years of testing, did and there was a disconnect in Baghdad.
Now would you use those plans without testing them?
