I was just looking at Allens website for his senate re-election bid, his philosophy on Government is near perfect!! He has an all American family and his wife just has that first lady look to her which complements George's Presidential leadership 'vibe' Any FReepers know more about allen? Is his name being tossed around for 2008?

Music to my ears.
Thanks for the post, area51 ... don't think I've ever read that exchange.
I don't know much about polls and professional politics and so forth. Still, these days, I don't think a Republican has much of a chance if the conservatives all stay home. I like George Allen as I have thought he was (is) a genuine conservative. If his record makes him out to be a liberal, he won't survive an internet backlash. I think he is smart enough to know that. We shall see.
"He's my favorite of the "realistic" candidates. Tancredo obviously is not going to be elected."
That quote from you was supposed to be in my last post, ie "very reasoned".
Don't understand what happened in my last post, it didn't come out as printed before I clicked "send" ??
I heard George Allen address the issue of illegal immigration just last week and he stated that he is opposed to any amnesty>
They all SAY that... they carefully call it "earned citizenship" or a "path to citizenship".
If he will make border enforcement a priority, I just may vote for him.
He's not up for overturning it completely - he actually wants it to be up to each state. Personally I would probably not vote for him in the primary but if he won the primary and was picked as our nominee I would of course vote for him. I'm not a big fan of George Allen but everyone here knows that. I think he's been built up into something he really isn't by conservatives who seem to want another Ronald Reagan. I loved Reagan but Allen is definitely NO REAGAN. I think if he runs for president he's not going to win. But I will vote for him if he wins the primary. I don't want to waste my vote.
That's his philosophy on government as a whole. Not just Roe v. Wade.
If he wants it to be up to each state, he's going to have to appoint justices who will overturn Roe.
That's why it was music to my ears.
He's by no means the conservative dream candidate, but right now he looks like the pick of the litter.
But not only "just" a Senator. He has the further experience of having been a state governor (Virginia) and carrying a name already known by football fans (his father was Hall of Fame Redskins coach George Allen the elder).
And being branded early on as "dim-witted" by Dem'crat opinion shapers puts him in pretty good company, right along with Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and the Presidents Bush 41 and 43. For you see, being cited as less than the sharpest knife in the drawer by the MSM is tantamont to their admission that you are a heckuva smarter than they are willing to grant. Their codewords.
I didn't say elected from, I said born in. Like Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson, both were born in NC, but were elected from TN.
Allen wasn't born in Virginia.
I know, and mentioned that before. He'd be the second president born in Whittier, California.
Right.
Do you have any evidence to suggest that Rudy Giuliani would have voted any differently on any of those bills if he were a U.S. Senator?
However, before he was a senator, he was term-limited out as governor.
Allen has the requisite executive experience.
I haven't heard anything from dem'crat opinion makers about Allen's intellect, but I have heard from Freeper's about his less than stellar debating skills. I've seen him on a few Sunday talk shows and, unfortunately, he gets waxed consistently.
