Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

It will not come to civil war. That is ridiculous and I wish people would quit falling for that malarky.

That's reassuring. I don't think it will either, but emotions are high right now.

"We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats."

That makes the best sense to me, as I said before, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.. It may not seem like we have made very much progress considering recent events but most of these problems have been festering for years. The GOP has been affected by the tide just as the whole country has moved under the influence of the socialist/liberal moon.

It will take time, Rome wasn't built in a day, brick by brick my FRiend, brick by brick. Keep our advantage, and over time weed out the weaklings amongst the GOP and what we end up with is a strong conservative party and ultimately a strong Republic.

Patience, perseverance and unity will see us through.

Desert_Girl: A stupid statement? You say your husband is “Mexican?” I was hoping he’d be an American. Are you? My post is based on facts, not stereotypes. And the only people I truly hate are those who dishonestly accuse me of being a hater, as you do.

WHOA Where did that come from?? I never called anyone stupid in my life, nor did I acuse you of hating. I don't think I even implied that. What I did say was that you made a ridiculous statement. If you are feeling stupid or hated, perhaps you should examine exactly where those feelings are coming from.

And what gives you the right to offer your disapproval of anyone's country of origin? My husband may have been born in Mexico, but he is at least as loyal and patriotic to this country as you are, and far less paranoid, omg. Have a great evening :8>)

You are right. I was crossthreading what you said here with what others have said.

I was backtracking in the discussion, along the decision timeline, and was trying to say that in a free republic that freedom of religion and freedom of speech are some of the most important principles we must support.

One of the reasons I support No Child Left Behind, despite the Kennedy bloating of funding necessary to get it passed after we lost control of the Senate, is because if teachers have to spend time teaching to the test they have less time to expound on their Marxism and anti-American and anti-religious beliefs.

The brainwashing many of our teachers do in the public schools does not make it easy to support freedom of scientific inquiry and learning in the schools, as yes, it can be subverted to advance godless thinking. But without freedom of information, where would we be?

And without the right to bear arms we would have lost this battle long ago, so to me that freedom is just about our most important one.

The problem is some have advocated impeachment of this President over their latest single issue du jour. Right now it illegal immigration.

Edmund Burke pointed out that no generation has a monopoly on wisdom - we are not more intelligent than our ancestors, or wiser than out descendents. Therefore no single vison - ours, or even Lao Tzu, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad - will get everything right.

This barbarian is heading for the cabinet to get the kidney shaped puker.

"We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale."

Yes Sir. I see it everyday in so many aspects of my own personal daily routine. Liberals, and Democrats do more to undermine the morale of our Troops than any foreign enemy ever could. The fathers warned us about domestic enemies, and we seem these days to be negligent concerning that quite serious threat.

And to you Sir Travis McGee regarding your snide remarks here and beyond.

"To: Jim Robinson Mr. Robinson, I sincerely believe that the current national path we are on will lead us straight into a bloody civil war."

I doubt that the folks who are dead set against this current Administration in every way will ever display the sack to engage in anything that might remotely be considered "bloody."  They are largely cowards and frauds. Those among them who have actually sworn an oath, which might cause them physical risk are somehow now unmindful of the pledge that their brothers and sisters in the service have made and continue to live up to. Perhaps they are simply deluded, or maybe in the case of more than a few they have become corrupted by the trappings of their offices.

Term limits anyone?

You ought to be ashamed of yourself.  You got a problem with Jim, then so be it. You got a problem with our Troops, well then you have a problem with me.

As far as I am concerned, this nation could use a civil war. The assholes seem to have taken over.  So called leaders in the Congress are sucking up to illegal immigrants and are actually preaching to those choirs in languages else than English.  They are doing much worse than that, and we who still care are somehow left on the sidelines....fretting with no real options against the teeming hordes other than despair.

They are destroying our Country, simply allowed so that a few lying hypocritical scumbags may get to indulge themselves like Esau in more and greater sized bowls of soup.

Hello?

It's a messy world. The sheer numbers of Cubans we have already let in have already caused huge assimilation problems in Florida, especially in Miami.

Second generation Cubans are tending to vote Democrat, BTW, from what I've read, because they are identifying more with outsiders rather than retaining the memory of oppression their parents brought with them from Cuba.

Ownership is a great antidote to Marxism, however. Make the tax cuts permanent!

The problem isn't with Hispanic immigrants per se, it is that the sheer numbers of them make assimilation very difficult.

And mass deportation / wall building is a pipe dream.

Neither will happen. Get used to it. We have to deal with reality.

It's only fair that you consider that all countries are inhabited by barbarians in that most people everywhere believe their viewpoint is the only right and good one.

Have Australians suddenly decided that some country besides their own have a better viewpoint? I'll take an Aussie to watch my back any day of the week because they are just as arrogant as we are.

It's the latest "fashion trend" if you will, last time it was bantied about was during the Dubai ports deal. That quickly fizzled out on it's own, and moved to the next hot button item on the agenda.
