Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

EXCELLENT point and one we should all remember, especially this November.

Why in HELL would I vote for that?!

There's simply no way to justify being against the war and supporting the troops.

Personally I find it hard to reward nation killing in which ever party I find it in. We have had six years with Republicans in power, I'm not impressed and cannot see the difference between Republican globalists and Democrat globalists. So what is the answer? Seems there is no answer other than to punish them in 2006 and vote Republican in 2008.

It's hard to resist dealing out punishment at the polls in order to show RINO's that their corporate donations will do them little good when facing an angry electorate.

You are the one speaking of capitulating not Jim nor I. Consolidating GOP support is not "capitulating". Mindlessly striking out against the GOP is and many admit they are ready to give up and allow the RATS to regain power out of a state of pique.

Placing issues in proper perspective is not "capitulating" either but a sign of political judgment.

I cannot speak for others but I never condone vigilantism. If the protesters take to rioting in the streets, I fully expect the National Guard to do their duty and defend our cities from random acts of violence and mob rule.

And I do not lump all immigrants together. Those who have applied for citizenship are a different sort than those who snuck across the border and have done what they could to avoid detection.

I do not see the rallies across this country to be a movement of those who are "disenfranchised" or who would benefit from amnesty. I see it as a continuum of the radical leftist Marxist-socialist-anarchist antiAmerican brigade. They march on behalf of Mexico AND Palestine and see no problem in linking the two controversies.

The La Raza supporters are US citizens (and sometimes college educated radicals). They wave a new flag of rebellion; the flag of Mexico replaces the Stars & Bars. They don't shout "The Southwest Is Gonna Rise Again" but they do harbor racist pipe dreams of secession from the United States that will never come to pass yet will leave a lot of bitter feelings on both sides of the racial divide.

I won't abandon this country, where would I go? Socialism is more widespread in other nations. The tide is turning as the mass media has been caught many times fabricating photos, video, documents, quotes, witnesses, and poll numbers. They are not taken at their word and their agenda is being questioned and rebuked.

I WOULD like to see the Democrat Party (A) rid itself of the communist element so that RINOs would feel more at home in their Democrat Party or (B) fully embrace their leftist radical element and collapse (permitting a division of the RINO element to form a new third "moderate" party). The farther the Rats go left, the more former Dems dilute the majority Conservative party. Until such a time that a third party does more than split the vote resulting in the election of Democrats, change must come from within (at the primary level).

It is our sacred duty, especially to pass these freedoms to our children and grandchildren.

I haven't been disagreeing with you at all, I been pointing out my point of view.

I will never be ashamed that I voted for Perot, Twice.

I liked his ideas more then the man and I like how Newt used what Perot had given him to win with, but we should never forget how we got that win because I think the democrats might use that tactic against us this time around or the next.

They fed off discontent.

Have you read the book Dirty Tricks, Don't Get Mad Get Even.

We can not afford to let even one Democrat get a leg up on us.

If the Democrats ever get back in power the pay back is going to be a b!t*h for anyone expressing conservative ideas.

Even with all my disappointments of late, the alternative to Republicans is not acceptable.

Yeah. I get perilously close to being banned or suspended on those threads. You'd think I'd learn my lesson and stay off.

There are times when our frustration can bring out the worst in us. Thanks for the timely reminder that we're all in this together no matter what our race or religion. I know I need to be more respectful of that in the future. Sometimes I need a swift kick! :)

Exactly... that's how we got Clinton, twice. Isn't it odd how Perot went away after 1996?
