Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

I say I would vote for the person that i most agree with in the primary. That is the only real vote you get, after that its "party time"

Good advice. I will never vote for a Dem and I will never sit out an election to punish the Republicans.

Amen, beaversmom.

A very good and timely reminder of FR's mission statement, Jim. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. Very timely, indeed.

We stand and fight, TOGETHER.

And don't forget to pray; for our country, our leaders, and our precious troops.

And in time most people will not have heard of Ross Perot or Harry Browne.

I take it that you are against any immigration reforms that would hurt republican candidates at the polls even if those reforms were as simple as the actual enforcement of existing laws?

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
. . .
THOSE ARE THE REASONS
THAT MAKE FR CRUCIAL
AS WELL AS UNIQUE!

We ought to be mature enough to

--realize no place is perfect yet still do our part toward making it better;

--realize that idiots abound and sometimes 1 shows up in our mirror--therefore at least a smidgin of humility is always in order;

--realize that yes, these are life and death; freedom and slavery; God and Country, eternal priority issues . . . all the more reason to be wisely, measuredly, grandfatherly-fiercely potent instead of flailing about like an angry, rabid, drunken, idiot, Marxist, liberal on meth.

--realize that while it's day; while we may; while we are able; while we have opportunity; while we have energy and means--we MUST work hard for LIFE, FREEDOM, GOD, COUNTRY AND OUR ETERNAL PRIORITY ISSUES--WE MUST STAND UP AND BE COUNTED if we do not want to lie in the same horrible cess pool as our very energized and well funded and very evil opponents.

--realize that while we fight for all we are worth for Good, God and Righteousness in any sense of those words . . . we MUST live like models of such with our spouses, our children, our family, our friends, with one another. What's the point if we act like the enemy with those we love the most?

--realize that in this Biblically predicted era of the GREATEST DECEPTIONS of all times . . . Godly wisdom--at least the best wisdom available is crucial and probably life-saving. Foolishness, blindness, lack of perceptiveness, cluelessness, blinding bias, simple minded irrationality and the like are not automatically patriotic; certainly not automatically right or correct and usually more destructive than helpful. Walk and communicate awake & wise vs zoned out and simply ranting out of blind emotion. The day is fast passing or gone when loud noise alone will win anything good.

--realize that this REALLY IS a life and death struggle of eternal proportions. This is beyond elections, MSM pontifications; political pontifications; culture; trends; styles; moods; Hollyweed; corruption; . . . We are talking about the deliberate, planned death of our way of life and of our nation as a nation--not just of our Constitution. The Marxist socialist globalist tyranny folks are playing for keeps. They may manipulate and use the clueless marchers with clever organization and skillful manipulation of the puppet strings. But they are much more than a Sunday afternoon party of ranters on parade. Soros alone has more than a few pennies plotting the downfall of our Nation as we have known it and lived it. We may FREEP in our 'free times,' but we need to be alert and committed to our worthy Cause 24/7. It may mean our very lives more than a few times.

--realize that loving God and loving one another takes priority over a LOT of other administrivia and even over a lot of lesser but important things. If we can't love in the midst of the fight, then the enemy has already won. It is worthy to hate what God hates. It is crucial to love what God loves--especially Him and one another.

Am honored to be here. THANKS TONS, JIM. I love loving the lot of you. Shoot, I even love the rabid . . . -ists.

Just a reminder. President Bush abolished the INS. It was replaced by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

It doesn't matter what it's called if Congress won't allow it to do its job...

I actively supported Anderson because of his stellar performance in the debates.

He impressed me (an impressionable 20 year-old) and I thought he was the best man for the job.

Man, do I regret that decision. :0)

Question.

If Perot did not run and GHWB won. Do you think that the Republicans would have won the House and Senate in '94?

Just curious, because if you're answer is no then you didn't waste your vote. It served a purpose

If the GOP knows that they will get our votes every time regardless of the candidate, then what possible incentive would they have to nominate conservative candidates instead of RINOs that will attract more center/left votes?

They dont nominate them, we do.

Jim is well able to speak for himself.

But my 2 cents is that evolution is not the most screaming of priorities.

It will die soon enough of a worse deception already in the works. Deliberate, organized, panspermia will take its place, regardless of what they call it.

I'm not saying Believers should be silent. I certainly believe we need to fight in the school boards and the courts.

But it's not the central purpose of FR by a long shot.

"Perfect is the enemy of good"

What an utterly disgusting sentiment.

Try this one instead:

"There is no hope for the satisfied man."

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site.

No problem with that...But...The difficult part is the definition of "conservative".

Ask 50 people on this site to define the general meaning of the word and you will likely get 50 different answers.

....Webster:...in politics, a loosely defined term indicating adherence to one or more of a family of attitudes, including respect for tradition and authority and resistance to wholesale or sudden changes. I adhere to this...Can I still participate?

I feel the same way, but reality is that we cannot get a Conservative elected in place of a Senator such a Lincoln Chaffee for example. He is in a State that is far too liberal, and has far too few Conservatives for it to actually be done. A dim would help the left secure Senate committees, and control of the agenda.

A RINO is far more palatable than an enemy dim. I don't like it any more than you do, but it is the reality of politics today. Work within the Republican Party to effect change, not aid our enemies in destroying our only weapon!

Thanks again for reminding us why we are here, Jim.

Thanks even more for founding Free Republic!!

PS Is there a way to contribute to Free Republic outside of the quarterly Freep-a-thons?

[I fear this one will be done before my credit card billing cycle rolls over ;-)]

Cheers!
