KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - April 10, 2006 - Think your phone bill is high?
A Malaysian man says he nearly fainted when he got $218 trillion phone bill, and yes, that's in U.S.
The man, Yahaya Wahab, says he's been ordered to pay up within ten days or face prosecution.
The New Straits Times reports the bill was for a line that was supposed to have been disconnected in January.
The unhappy phone customer says he can't wait to face Telekom Malaysia in court, if the company follows through with its threat.

If he doesn't have that much money on hand, the telephone company would be willing to finance the bill, at attractive rates, so he could pay it off over time...
To: bwteim
This guy has a lousy contract. My carrier will cut me off after the first $100 Trillion.

A different version of this story from
Fox adds:
But Telekom Malaysia later sent him a 806,400,000,000,000.01 ringgit ($218 trillion) bill for recent telephone calls along with orders to settle within 10 days or face legal proceedings, the newspaper reported.
It wasn't clear whether the bill was a mistake, or if Yahaya's father's phone line was used illegally after after his death.
Yeah, right. Any math majors want to tell me how long it would actually take to spend $218 trillion on phone calls?

Ah, the pain of regret.

He should switch to Verizon, then it would only be $217 Trillion. Can you hear me now?

Yeah, right. Any math majors want to tell me how long it would actually take to spend $218 trillion on phone calls?Well, imagine this really bad calling plan: $70 trillion a month, plus $8 trillion per minute.
The dude only made one call in three months!

"806,400,000,000,000.01 ringgit "
I like that accounting touch, that .01 of a ringgit proves the bill is probably correct... ;)
