Ben Affleck: Bush Can Be Hung for 'Leaks' in Plamegate By Josh Hart Apr 9, 2006
Actor Ben Affleck suggested this weekend on 'Real Time with Bill Maher' that President Bush probably leaked Valerie Plame's name and so if he did, you can be hung for that! That's treason!
The would be politician and Democrat went through this exchange according to News Busters that gives a brief and rough transcript on how Mr. Affleck came to this conclusion.
***
The panel guests were Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) who was quite humorous as he let loose with some funny four-quotes. Bill Sammon of the Washington Examiner was on as well.
Here's the exchange:
***
Bill Sammon, Washington Examiner: A lot of critics are conflating the two and are saying that because Bush disclosed this piece of information, they're implying that Bush leaked the name.
Ben Affleck: He probably also leaked the name. There's just no proof of that.
Sammon: Even the prosecutor, even Fitzgerald is saying Bush didn't leak the name. So let's be clear, Bush didn't leak Valerie Plame's name -- not that we know of.
Affleck: Because if he did, you can be hung for that! That's treason!
Bill Maher: That is treason.
Affleck: You could be killed. That's not a joking around Tom DeLay 'I'll do a year, I bribed the state officials with corporate money.' That's like they shoot you in the battlefield for doing that. Don't you think we should find out who leaked that name?
***
Affleck did not come off well during the exchange or the rest of the program.
He seemed to be trying way too hard to look like the smartest guy on the panel. It didn't work well, but his quote made a forgettable 'Real Time' grab some headlines.

Paycheck was the one I was thinking of. God, that was terrible.
Did yo9u ever see an episode of SNL. Norm McDonald was in a car accident and he was pinned behind the wheel and Sly Stallone was there to try an rescue him. All Norm could do was talk about all of Sly's movies that sucked. It was really funny.

Are you sure it isn't "Reindeer Games"?
It was OK. Ben was hot. Gary Sinise was evil.
Maybe Ben does have the looks, but I just love everything Gary Sinise does, I think his best work was "Truman".

No, It was GoodWill Hunting I was struggling to recall. Never saw Reindeer Games. BTW, I think Gary Sinise is an excellent actor too. He was in a small production movie version of Of Mice And Men, which was excellent. He's also doing some tv stuff but I'm not one to follow a tv series, so I couldn't say what it is.

If he wasn't named Ben Affleck, he'd merit the same attention as the guy in the next booth at the diner discussing political issues with his fried eggs.

Another Hollyweird asshat heard from. If Affleck had been "hung" sufficiently, he might still be with J-Lo.

I thought Libby "leaked" the name as directed by the VP, which I don't think qualifies as a leak. Does Affleck read the news?

It would help if Plame had been a covert operative working outside the U.S. Unfortunately for Affleck, SHE WASN'T. That makes him a total moron for talking about things he has absolutely no knowledge about. He needs to go back to Brokeback Mountain and stay there.

All politics aside, Affleck is the worst acTOR of our time. His amateurish performance in Pearl Harbor was laughable. He was worse in "Daredevil."

Is that from the Penn and Teller show "Bullsh*t"? That show is freggin` great. You ever see the one where they sent this guy out among the protesting enviornmentalists asking them to sign a petition to ban dihydrogen oxide? Ban water because it causes "Sweating, it`s a major component of acid rain, it`s a primary contributor to erosion, accidental inhalation can kill you.."
