Thanks for the update.

I gave up on little lord steffy's show back when Will went 'round the bend. Up to that point I would watch it just to see him kick a$$ in the consistently lopsided round-table. I just simply don't see any point in watching now.

I like to watch timmy's show when he has Republicans on, because they regularly beat him at his own games (the McCain interview last week being a very notable exception!).

I amaze at how pessimistic people are nowadays. My Scot ancestry gifted me with a certain amount of taciturnity, and that has rewarded me with accusations of pessimism, but I try to keep a positive attitude (I survived the klintoon years, didn't I?!).

Leftists, especially their chief emissaries, the Has-been Media, are completely, tragically, pathetically pesimistic! Maybe it is in the crap they feeeeeel compelled to spew. Maybe it is because they are no longer accepted on their word alone. Nah! I think it is because they are losers who have hitched their wagons to a dead horse! Being a dead horse, it isn't going to get you anywhere, no matter how hard you whip it, and being leftists, they don't have the imagination to try anything else.

I read lots of lefty blogs and no matter how ebullient they appear to sound, I read them as desperately unhappy, but completely unwilling to try to fix the things that depress them. They find great sport in criticizing the efforts of others, but haven't got a single notion of how they would handle the same challenges if their lives depended on it. Instead they have focused on Hating Bush (tm). How's that gonna play out in '08?!

My advice? Try to find some little thing that represents a positive advance and...

Never let the bastards get ya down!

Yep. And it is EASY to say "I'll pay $5 a head for lettuce" Looking how loud the whiners squeal when gas goes up $.30, I serious doubt they would say that when it actually came time to pay the price. Illegals are just the latest issue for the Junk Media and it's echo chamber to frothy about. All sides of this have been long rhetoric, short on real answers. Frankly it stupid to try and do this all in one bite. Start with some serious enforcement like the wall etc then work on to how to manage the labor flow issues.

The President is simply wrong. A comprehensive bill is a mistake. Both politically and morally.

Here's the whole deal on the Ron Brown crash and it centers on Hillary! of all people.

The USAF has to have reliable data on air field beacons and radars by physical survey before they can fly Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) into a particluar airport. In Western Europe this had been done way back from the 1940's onward. In 1989, when the Berlin Wall came down and communism eded in all of Eastern Europe over the next several years (1989-1992) the USAF literally had thousands of airfields they could potentially fly into, none of whch were physically surveyed. Survey teams had gone out but of course this type of work isn't accomplished overnight.

Now because of the war in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, we became very interested in flying missions into that country but were hard pressed to survey their airfields when war was raging. We were asked to fly civilian relief missions mostly at first, but that changed over time. The war ended in Slovenia in 1991, but then focused on Bosnia and Croatia for the next 3-4 years. Finally the US took action and got the war stopped there with the IFOR (Implimentation Force) mission in 1995 (our Army deploying into the Tuzla portion of Bosnia). But we were doing various "things" in that area for a year or two before that. That involved flying into certain airfields that had not been surveyed. USAF in Europe (USAFE) asked for waivers on the USAF regulation requiring formal surveys. After IFOR began, the waiver was rescinded. That meant we were not allowed to fly into unsurveyed airfields under IFR rules.

A few weeks before Brown's plane crashed, Hillary was on a tour of US IFOR regions to build morale (HA!). At one point she wanted to make an unscheduled stop at some city's airport that had not been surveyed. The pilot told her handlers "No", and she went ballistic, stating something like "Who to hell does that airman think he's working for? I am representing the president and he'll fly me where I say so!" At least that is the scuttlebutt we all heard. This had a profound impact on the leadup to the crash later. No general would back up the pilot so they flew Hillary's entourage where it wanted to go. NOTE: This was not published in the final report. STILL - WE KNEW IT. IT IS TRUE!

The 76th Airlift Squadron flew the CT-43's (737's) for traveling dignitaries and the 86th Air Wing (Ramstein AB operations) was the parent organization. Folks were angry high command didn't support the flyers while letting Clinton administration types push them around. USAFE did ask for another waiver specifically for these types of missions but HQ USAF turned them down. Shortly thereafter, Brown's plane crashed into a mountain on final approach during a storm near Dubrovnik.

The final accident investigation report cited a "failure of command" in causing the accident. For this, the Wing Commander, a BGen, and the USAFE Director of Operations, a MajGen, were forced to retire (essentially fired).

In my opinion, the crash was due to political pressure from grandstanding Clinton administration officials wanting to use the USAf as their personal livery service while HQ USAF did nothing knowing that to do so would put their careers on the line. The whole thing was shameful.

Sen Kyl, on Late Edition just gave Wolf a lesson on yellowcake, Joe Wilson, "leaks", British Intelligence, etc.

I watched the estimable Senator Kyl. He was fabulous. He does not make the mistake so many do of lettlng a false premise in the question stand and plowing ahead trying to make sense of it. He first, clearly and concisely, corrects the premise and then goes on to make his point. He is the most clear thinking and clear speaking person that I have seen today.

And how much is the lettuce going to cost at the grocery store after being picked by a worker making $132,000 a year?

I agree it's all upside down. At issue is how to correct that, and that's the thing that proves so illusive. We keep talking about it, writing to the press on it, and do what we can but it remains a problem because old media, biased media and the left repeats these falsehoods over and over.

Telling the truth eventually wins, as we witnessed with the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth proved, and as voters voted for President Bush against almost all the pundits and poll predictions. We shall see if we can repeat this in November, and again in 2008.

Peter King on. The Senate bill was a failure, is a failure, and cannot pass the House no matter what it looks like. He is also making the case for ILLEGAL versus LEGAL immigration. (Too bad the media does not get that one.) Brit points out the unworkable and illogical procedures in the Senate bill. King agrees they won't work as intended.

My interpretation was that I don't think King supports "illegal" immigration, rather he supports calling it what it is, illegal.

Good stuff here Cardinal4.

If we don't plug up the holes in the border all the amnesty programs in the world won't help we will just need a new one every 5 years.

Plug up the holes, then we have forever to set up some sort of amnesty program(which is all we will get,IMHO)

Well- I don't have to be an economic genius to understand that the when Mexico's #1 import is money that is sent to them by those earning that money here- would have a tremendously WONDERFUL impact on our economy if those dollars were spent buying goods and services HERE!

No, you are wrong. In fact, the money that immigrants send home to their countries of origin should be something you appreciate, because it is the single reason why you don't see 10 times the amount of illegal immigration that you see today.

Not to mention the fact that all the working under the table being stopped would add to the tax coffers, help bring pathetic wages up for hard working Americans...and the benefits of cracking down on businesses paying under the table would do for reducing welfare.

You are not considering the economic costs associated with the taxation of those not earning a minimum wage. You don't want those wages taxed because they are not worth the expense of regulation, investigation and collection.

I don't buy that ILLEGAL immigrants help our economy.... at least not in any way that doesn't resemble the plantation format of slave labor....

I realize that, but what you don't understand is that your lack of understanding of the underlying economic facts are what allow politicians to use you as pons for their reelection benefit.

$50 an hour for an entire season to pick lettuce in Arizona. Doubtful there are many Americans who would survive the 100 plus temperatures for hours on end, days on end.

Are you joking? Who the hell do you think built this country? Our troops in Iraq are braving similar conditions in terms of the heat. You underestimate your fellow citizens or are buying into the MSM propaganda.

The President isn't wrong, he is just having to play the same political game for the survival of the Republican party that everyone else is playing. His hands are tied, and there is no winning solution except to insure that no bill passes, which is exactly what is going to happen. There will not be a bill.
