Mr. President, I thank Senator Leahy, ranking member on the Judiciary Committee. I have received just this afternoon in my office some disturbing news in the form of correspondence from the Congressional Budget Office. It suggests a number of areas where the amendment we are talking about here today, No. 3424, the immigration so-called compromise, violates our budget and the rules of the Senate. Let me read from the correspondence we have received. This is something, as you know, Mr. President, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, that we never discussed at all. It is not a matter we spent any time at all discussing as we moved forward with legislation which ultimately cleared that committee and came to the floor legislation which I thought was not good legislation and which I opposed, and so did the Senator from Texas, who just relinquished the Chair. We didn't discuss the financial impact of the legislation before us. Stand Up For America ! |
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Sorry for the double posting!...
Bob was so pompous about the whole thing. I think he cut off discussion because Tom was doing so well... Hah!
Hate MSM. Nothing will be aired that gives credibility to our side.
Nothing they do ever gives our side credibility.
And what burns me (us) more, is the general uninformed public buys into all their crap!
The debate is now framed as "pro-immigrant" vs. "anti-immigrant," even on the anemic discussion just conducted on FSN.
NZ tackles growing racism By Angie Knox BBC, New Zealand Clean, green - and racist? New Zealand's image is taking a beating with new research showing that 70% of its citizens think that Asians face significant discrimination.
Sounds like this pompous finger pointer should focus her angst over bigotry bogeymen at home where they are out of the closet.
FOX is very RINO over this....Barnes and Whining Willie and even Chuck a bit.
They are all beltway
Take a look at the Tony Snow threads. The OBL's kicked Travis Mcgee over backtalk to Tony Snow.
The Fox crew helps their globalist masters. Of the networks they may attempt to show the truth, versus the wholesale lies of ABC,CBS,NBC,CXN.
They are not friends of the anti-illegals.
It's Saved to my computer.
Control borders si!
Amnesty no!
Chuck sounds like Brit Hume....not as liberal as Kristol on this but to the Left of the House.
Ironically, the elites' addiction to slave labor, as you state, has them in league with Communists!!
The other side will twist what they want people to hear. I'm so sick of it, but Krauthammer clarified it nicely, I thought.
You are sure right about the Snow thread.
Snow is more liberal on this than Hume or Gibson or even OReilly.
Sometimes being a social moderate just shines through despite the effort.
FR is sensitive about it's celebs. That's not my call.
But Levin takes more heat regularly with folks getting time-outs.
Many immigrants to the US if you listen to them are quite suprised at the tolerance and acceptance of foreigners that exists in this country. That's why I find the constant race-baiting to be so insulting.
> Tell it to the Aboriginals, you hypocrite.
I'm a New Zealander. Aboriginals are from Australia -- different country.
Perhaps you should study some geography before throwing around terms like "hypocrite". I could just as easily throw around terms like "Idiot" or "Uneducated Moron" -- but I won't because I'm a gentleman.
> Read these and tell us how we are bigots.
I spoke of Immigrants, not unwelcome guests.
When I emigrated, I went thru due process: nothing wrong with that.
Lice and vermin that jump the queue and invade the country and bypass the reasonable controls are not Immigrants. They are home invaders.
I object to the characterization of "Immigrants" as being bad, which is what the post implied. Unless you are an American Indian, you are of Immigrant stock, in America.
And yuh, anyone who objects to this characterization is a bigot.
You're right, chris1, even though the illegal invasion has been going on for decades, and immigration law in re illegals from south of the border has been missing in action ... in a post-9/11 world, there is NO EXCUSE for negligence of border security, employer sanctions, background checks and deportations.
In fact, you will recall that even though the homeland security bill the president signed in November 2004 mandated 2,000 new BP agents per year for 5 years, the administration pared it down to 150 per year. Now, how can they do that once it's signed into law? And why?
It is a studied and deliberate lack of law enforcement.
Because they know the majority of Americans will keep on ponying up the taxes. Heck, we have no choice when the deductions are made from our paychecks. They count on us to continue to be law-abiding and dutiful, carrying everyone else on our backs.
