Holy cow, it may come down to hand-to-hand combat on the streets of Mayberry, USA.
When they elect a bona fide Marxist in Mexico, do you think Washington will see a threat then?

Mexico has always been (technically) a Socialist state, and it functions like one: a crummy economy, no opportunities for the non-wealthy, and a huge, corrupt bureaucracy sitting on top of everything. Furthermore, Mexico has always prided itself on being anti-American.
I doubt that much would change with Mexico, except that this candidate has the backing of Hugo Chavez and this would be seen in LatAm as another grand slam by Hugo. And this would not be a good thing, since we have been "dealing" with Hugo by ignoring him and hoping he'll just fade away. He won't, and he's even less likely to do so once he gets into Mexico.

Chavez is a firm ally of Cuba's Fidel Castro. Lopez Obrador could be the final piece in their grand plan to bring the United States to its knees before the newly resurgent Latin left Meanwhile if this character is elected we have 12-20 million of their citizens in place in this country to overtake it. They already showed what they can do this entire week by protesting, this has become a even more serious crisis come July. Washington better get their act together and send these people back immediately!!!

You have to wonder if they'll close the borders in typical commie fashion.

Wait this article was written by Dick Morris? The liberal gone Republican? Aha. Well that puts a whole different spin on this but he may have a point.

I never thought I would see it but I think as time goes by we are getting closer and closer to a armed conflict on American Soil. We are talking about practically the whole of Latin and south America stretching potentially from Mexico city to buenos aires going completely red. They have tons of oil and able bodied disgruntled unemployed young man that blame all of there ills on America that could be the making of quite a large grand army.
Think we wont let it happen? We already are turning a blind eye to constant incursions by the Mexican army, and there are border towns on the American side that are flying the Mexican flag. We have millions of people here illegally who not only want to stay, they want to take virtually the whole of the western United States and they are not even on watch lists!

Whew! We think we have problem with people jumping the border NOW!!! Wait till the wonders of open socialism take hold.
As villified as Fox is, he is responsible for opening up huge sections of the Mexican economy, and bringing a third world version of prosperity to millions (and no, I am not talking about the millions of dollars in wire transfers back to Mexico from the USA).
We are looking at a potential slamming shut of a struggling nascent economy.
If that happens, the biggest wall in the world won't keep them out.
My first post on free republic, by the way.

Let's see now. Little Dickie says that we must vote to appease a country that sucks hundreds of billions of dollars from our economy, illegally invades it's citizens across our border, floods our cities with drugs and thumbs it's nose at our extradition requests.
Please go back to the dark side dickie.

The Communist influence in the south must be licking their chops when they see a 'wide open' US border. Wasn't this part of the 'Red Dawn' scenerio?
To: GiovannaNicoletta
Oh good grief, another bunch of hooey from Dick Morris, who says we should keep our border open because he's afraid Mexico is going to elect a commie. If all the people of Mexico who are willing to work weren't here in the United States, they'd be back in Mexico voting against the commie.

If Mexico goes Socialist all the lefties in this country can move to their new paradise below the border and the freedom loving capitalist from Mexico can come up here.
Sounds like a winner to me or a wiener depending on your view.

Ah allll that newly discovered oil. Interesting isn't it that this year Putin is hosting the G8-Summit come June, and he said it is to be about "energy security".
Putin has made it his business to partner up with Chavez and if Mexico goes ultra-leftist my guess is that Putin will set up shop in Mexico proper.
Our very own leftist have made darn sure that we the good old USA, are NOT drilling in that formerly owned piece of real estate of Russia called Alaska.

It is my opinion that we are already in WWIV ( WWIII being the Cold War ) and there are two, somewhat interlocking elements to it:
Islam, a Religion of Peace®? ( links, blogs, quips, quotes, aggravating pictures ) is located here- click the Pic, and scroll backwards:
"Thunder on the Border," click the picture:
( PS- my personal prediction? That picture will become one of the most widely distributed, and most hated, pictures on the internet. The Illegal lobby could not have done more damage to themselves with that "Mexican Flag Superior, America in Distress" photograph if they had tried... )

Think about this,
if 12-20 million illegal invaders can threaten our leaders into submission by threatening to vote in a socialist into office in mexico,
shouldn't they definitely be thrown out of this country and now?
Morris's argument and threat saying if we do anything to upset the illegal aliens in this country they will vote in a socialist in mexico is as skewed as only a liberal can assert. instead of trying to not upset them we should get them the heck out of this country and as quick as we can.

We cannot be sure of who Mexico will elect based on our actions nor should be try. You have to do what is right and not make excuses to do otherwise. Morris gets on my nerves. There has to be a new book associated with this editorial.

Dick Morris has been trying to alert Americans to this situation for some time.
If Mexico elects Lopez, that will mean that we will have Lopez, in addition to Castro, Chavez, and a host of South and Central American despots to deal with right in our backyard.
Just like our immigration problems, we've let the festering troubles with Latin America slide for far too long.
The election in Mexico in July is far more important that our own elections in November. Congress needs to get to work. I still say lock them all in the Capitol Building and nail the doors shut until they do their jobs. Oh, and take out all the air conditioning...if those lazy fatcats break a sweat, they'll hurry up and give us some relief.
Since Cynthia McKinney doesn't play well with others, and has a habit of hitting people, she should have to wear a straitjacket during the lockdown Congressional session.

To: GiovannaNicoletta
Lopez Obrador is not inevitable. Recent polls show the candidate of Fox's National Action Party (PAN), Felipe Calderon, closing in. But much will hinge on the resolution of the immigration debate now roiling Congress. This is BS, but it appears President Bush is feverishly trying to save Calderon. Fox has already had his chance to get rid of Lopez Obrador and he failed miserably, increasing LO's popularity in the process. An immigration accord won't be enough for the PAN. It will be seen only as Bush's attempt to influence the Mexican elections.

I feel like I should be writing this for Soldier of Fortune mag but....
My take is simple. American's are getting fed up with illegals. The final slap in the face were demonstrators flying the Mexican flag and desecrating the flag of the US.
If our government continues to hold this "do nothing" attitude the people of the US will have no choice but to take our land back and remove those who have no legal right to be here, right out of the country.
It's scary to think our Gov would allow foreigners to invade our country by the millions and then try to find ways to legalize their lawbreaking.
If the Gov won't do it who's left?
