High School Kid Who Burned Mexican Flag Arrested And Charged With Arson
FreeRepublic ^ | 3/31/06 | kstewskis

Just got home from work, and was listening to Joe Crummy on KFYI interview one of the dads of the kids that burned the Mexican flag:

Apparently, his kid was arrested by AJ Police and was held in detention in Florence all day yesterday. CHarged with Arson. It took all of their savings to get a retainer for an atty.

It gets better. The family is now getting death threats. They were informed by police that there are those trying to find out where the family lives, and are going after them. AJ police stated to the father, there is nothing they can do about it, until someone actually shows up on their property.

Also, there was another kid from the school (Rod, who said he was a "future" Marine) read that letter from the school, forbiding any kid to wear any article of clothing resembling or representing a flag, no matter what country it represents.

He said emphatically, that he *will* wear the US Flag to school Monday.

Apparently this flag burning was near the ROTC table.

My respect for the kids in AJ have grown a hundred fold!

Yours sounds like the most rational defense to me. That, plus "Screw Mexico!", of course.

Makes both perfect rational sense and legal sense to me, sons-- but I left law school long ago because of the BS.

Here's a philosophical question for you -- I'd be interested in your views.

If the three principal purposes of government are NOT to 1) defend the nation, 2) maintain civil order, and 3) protect private property, then -- why bother even having a government?

The only conceivable answer to this query, in my view, is that anarchy is thoroughly unstable, therefore some sort of government is necessary.

Were I to write a Constitution for a new republic, to be formed at some date in future, I absolutely guarantee you that I should include some sort of provision making assassination of public ''officials'' lawful under controlled circumstances.

Not only have we been invaded; it seems as if we have been conquered.

We're a long way from being conqured. We may have Neville Chamberlain in the White House, but we've got Winston Churchill in the House of Representatives. $100 to Tom Tancredo to save America.

I don't think civil war. Although Bush and his illegal amigos may be subjected to the fury of the American people, in one way or another. I don't see that as necessarily a bad thing.

America has become an oligarchic plutocracy.

The government no longer serves the general public and the average American.

Sam Adams had the right idea.

"I live in a small farm town in Nelson County, Virginia, and will retire from the Virginia Army National Guard in April 2006, after 22 years. I have spent almost one half of my adult life preparing myself and my soldiers for a time, such as now, that our country might successfully face our enemies, foreign and domestic.

Looking at your webpage this morning and seeing the pictures of the high school students raising a Mexican national flag over an upside down American flag saddened me terribly, insofar as there are American soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen currently putting their lives in danger in order to provide these "citizens" the comfort of knowing that their protests will not result in being lined up against a wall and executed for their behavior, as they might in other countries around the world.

What would be interesting to know is if these young men and women are enjoying their educations on the back of the American taxpayer at a public school, while denigrating the country that provides these benefits to them, and so blatantly desecrating the flag that serves as a beacon to draw them to America in the first place."

Very true. It has been preying on my mind everytime the pro-illegal alien group start their little dance around the fire who they remined me of. Well, I finally figured it out...they remind me of "The Lord of the Flies."

They get whipped up into a frenzy on illegal alien threads. Look at those who have been suspended, two off the top of my head are anti-illegal alien supporters. Are we who are anti illegal supporters being sent a message?

ther property of another person or of burning one's own property for an improper purpose, as to collect insurance.

The Flag Code suggests that, "when a flag has served its useful purpose, it should be destroyed, preferably by burning."

Sounds proper to me. Let the kid out of jail.

I don't see any improper purpose. But that's just my opinion.

So if you were to purposely burn one blade of grass of your neighbor's yard it is arson?

A bit extreme...

There needs to be some definition of property with a threshold of value. At some point it is meaningless.
