Given that Democratic Leader Harry Reid has threatened to filibuster any immigration bill that does not include amnesty for illegal aliens, someone should ask him a basic question: What happens to state budgets when twelve million illegal aliens become eligible for Medicaid and food stamps?
Right now, illegal aliens are largely ineligible for a whole panoply of federal programs simply because of their immigration status.
As the Pew Hispanic Center reported last year: "[A]bout a quarter of all drywall and ceiling tile installers in the United States are unauthorized migrants, as are about a quarter of all meat and poultry workers and a quarter of all dishwashers." Whatever the nobility of honest labor, hanging drywall and washing dishes has not exactly been the road to riches.

Where will we get another 11 million illegals when our current illegals are made legal?
They'd rather stay on welfare and wait for reparations!
Only if Repubs like Buchanan let it happen.
Do you also want to stop LEGAL immigration?
My answer would be this: Shut down your Medicaid and food stamp programs completely, and you won't have a freakin' problem.
Ah, so if you disagree with turning America into Mexico and you stay home on election day rather than vote for any OBL, you are the one letting it happen.
If a burglar breaks into your house and gets his ass shot, is it your fault for shooting him, or his fault for breaking in?
What he really means is "Doing the jobs that Americans won't do at a really low wage so my Corporate cronies can make tens of millions instead of merely millions".
"It would not be farfetched to say there would be zero gain from this," he said in an interview.
ZERO net benefit. As usual the liberal democrats have it wrong, they have no clue about what's RIGHT for our Country!
I agree, problem solved.
If you are running across the border today and there's a real good chance that you'll end up in a Wal-Mart aisle next month -- and perhaps in a Ford dealership five years from now -- then you may as well be a citizen as far as this country is concerned.
I think that's a ridiculous notion, but have at it.

Bull crap.
We are going to have another problem that many people haven't thought about. Organ donations. We will be putting thousands of Mexicans on our lists as they will be entitled to everything that is American. As I understand, the organ donation list has thousands waiting now for organs.
A massive influx on immigrants has been the "natural" response of every affluent Western nation in the last few decades when they were faced with their own self-made demographic crises. There's no reason why the U.S. would be immune to this.
`Where will we get another 11 million illegals . . '
Same place we got the illegals currently in our country, umgud. Advocates of "immigration reform" remind me of "gun control" advocates: they don't enforce the laws on the books now--state and federal--and the criminals know it,
so they plan to pass more laws . . . that won't be enforced.
The plan: Illegals are to pay a $1,000 fine, then leave and return later to pay another $1,000 fine. That would be comical if only these scofflaws and their `anchor babies' were not now raising the Mexican flag above Old Glory, upside down.
But not to worry: Jorge is receiving his marching orders from his Mexican overlord, even as we speak.
Solution? See tag line.
The real cost of illegal immigration is the bloody civil war we're going to be forced to fight to save the United States.
This country can either be Japan, or it can be France. There is no alternative. We've simply decided to be France -- without the militant Islam.
