A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Mice overrunning Democrat neighborhoods in D.C.
by JohnHuang2
"To drive through the mill towns and curly country roads here (in Holyoke, Massachusetts) is to journey into New England's impeachment belt," notes Michael Powell of the Washington Post. "Three of this states's 10 House members have called for the investigation and possible impeachment of President Bush." This is the George Clooney wing of the Democrat Party. Big wing of the party, but sized against the broader electorate, it's still the Clooneytic fringe.
Powell continues: "Thirty miles north, residents in four Vermont villages voted earlier this month at their annual town meetings to buy more rock salt, approve school budgets and impeach the president for lying about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction . . ."
Democrats stricken with Impeachmentites point specifically to Bush's Oval Office address, just as the bombs began to drop on Baghdad, when he claimed: "The credible threat of force, and when necessary, the actual use of force, is the surest way to contain Saddam's weapons of mass destruction program . . ." Bush added that, "Saddam must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons!"
Oops, that wasn't Bush -- that was Clinton, back in December, 1998, just as the bombs began to drop on Baghdad. Must've been that scheming Texas governor at the time, sneaking into CIA headquarters, planting phony 'evidence' -- all to frame poor, lil' innocent Saddam. French, Russian and German intelligence also believed Saddam had WMDs, so Bush was a pretty busy fella.
Clinton's bombing campaign in Iraq was to continue until achieving a full surrender -- a full surrender by Republicans. Which meant bringing the impeachment process to a screeching halt. Anyway, shouldn't impeach a war president, said the John Conyers at the time. Getting rid of Saddam's globally menacing WMDs was more important, said the warmongering neo-Conyers. Didn't work. Clinton was impeached anyway. That week.
That's what this is all about: Payback. Right now, though "prominent party leaders" and most Democrats in Congress are "distancing themselves" from impeachment, the Donkey's fringe base is so white-hot for impeachment, that to get them to come around, Bush would have to give missile technology to China. Or bare it all before Paula Jones. Or hit on the White House help. Or pardon a treasonous fugitive.
The AP reports that "leading Democrats in Vermont" will decide soon whether to use a "little known provision in the rules of the U.S. House," whereby "impeachment proceedings can begin 'by charges transmitted from the legislature of a state'" -- a rule in the so-called "Jefferson's Manual." Vermont impeaches Bush. It could make Bush's re-election iffy.
Vermont is the mainstream, American heartland state where a confessed child rapist initially was sentenced to a whopping 60 days in jail. Judge Edward Cashman, showing he can be tough on child rapists, later revised the sentence to three years. An 8-year-old girl was raped, but at least the rapist didn't tempt her to smoke cigarettes. Joe Camel is serving a life sentence in Vermont. Liberals care so much about children.
The Post article notes that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors "voted last month to urge Congress to impeach Bush, as have state Democratic parties, including those of New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin." Liberal activists spend "many hours dialing Democratic politicians and angrily demanding impeachment votes." They just can't wait to make Dick Cheney President!
Er, wait. So, lemme get this straight. They impeach, remove and boil Bush in oil for 60 minutes, then Cheney becomes President. They then proceed to impeach and remove Cheney, casting him into a big, non-stick hard anodized skillet. Speaker Dennis Hastert becomes President! That'll teach the Republicans.
It's telling that voters have so completely removed the Democrats from all levers of power, that impeachment only means trading one Republican for another. Voters wanted it that way. Voters aim to keep it that way. This November. Write that down.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

Groans Now, Glory Later
Our light affliction . . . is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17
|
I once heard of a Christian seminar titled, "How To Live A Stress-Free Life." Such an unrealistic hope promptly made me stressful! Yet we all long for relief from life's many pressures.
A Christian friend of mine whose family is experiencing tough times admits feeling let down by God. She said, "I've prayed, agonized, and claimed promises, but nothing changes. The frustrating thing is that I know He has the power to get us out of this. I've seen Him do it before, but this time He's silent."
Larry Crabb, in his book Inside Out, emphasizes that our only hope for complete relief from hardship is to be with Jesus in heaven. "Until then," he says, "we either groan or pretend we don't." He adds, "The experience of groaning, however, is precisely what modern Christianity so often tries to help us escape."
My friend is groaning and she's not pretending she isn't. Like all of us, she simply wants things to change. But the fact is, something is changingshe is!
Paul assured us in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that our present sufferings are lightweight and brief compared with the weighty and eternal changes they are producing in us. We groan now, but there's glory ahead (Romans 8:18). Joanie Yoder
The obstacles that we must face
Along life's rocky way
Are used by God so we might hear
"Well done" from Him someday. Sper
God often uses a setback to move us forward.

Nice rant, John. I say just let the DUmmies continue to go off on this impeachment theme...we'll pick up more seats in the next election. I think people are getting tired of their never-ending search for a position being pursued by bashing our president! They are one-note wonders.

I'll bet it was fun! Did she actually find something that she liked...and that you could approve of? That seems to be the problem with fashion right now.

I just wanted to say that thankfully, not all states are like Vermont.
Here in Greenville, SC the local classical/beautiful music radio station, just before the noon news break, has a moment of silence for our nation, then recites the Pledge of Allegiance and plays the National Anthem. Awesome!

Well we didn't get any pants, because she didn't like the cut,but we got a couple of cute shirts.
I really don't have to worry about her buying shirts or skirts that almost hide nothing, because she likes her clothes baggy and comfortable.

Good for her. Some of the very young girls who I see in our mall make me very uncomfortable with the extremely low cut of their jeans and shirts that expose this. Ick. Look like baby hookers! Sheesh!
