Fate conspires to remind us what this war is really about: civilizational confidence. And so history repeats itself: first the farce of the Danish cartoons, and now the tragedy - a man on trial for his life in post-Taliban Afghanistan because he has committed the crime of converting to Christianity.
The cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad were deeply offensive to Muslims, and so thousands protested around the world in the usual restrained manner - rioting, torching, killing, etc.

I choose the word "forbid" in order to achieve clarity. We cannot allow this and must say we will not allow this. Much like the Brit in India regarding burning widows. Sovereignity is fine, just so long as they understand that the sovereigns are not allowed to do this.
When England had a spine!
----Do we now have a spine?
islam is a cancer on mankind. It's time to start treating like we treat cancer. First with surgery, then with chemo and radiation.

Why, exactly, did you shrink from that meaning, with your "most people" modifier?
Are you going to participate in the genocide or just applaud from the sidelines?
The Brits kicked the Afghan's butts in the Afghan war. They only lost the first round because they were led by an appeasing idiot who, in modern times, would be a spokesman for our State Department.
The Americans kicked the Viet Cong's butts in the Tet Offensive. The Americans did not win the Vietnam War, and the British did not conquer Afghanistan.

By being the strong horse.
Get me close enough and I'll push the buttons with a smile on my face. We can start with that black rock they stampede around in Saudi.
One W-88 dialed up to about 250 kilotons right over Mecca at the height of the haj..that should calm the sons of mohamet (syphilitic pedophile that he was, p*ss be upon him)down for the next 5 or 6 hundred years.

You think it is MAD with the USA and China? Boy! Are you out in space or something?
of course, MAD = Mutually Assured Destruction. Which is not the case for the USA and any other country, at present.
It's not genocide, but survival. Was our genocide of entire cities of Germans and Japs unjustified?.
I liked this paragraph (excerpted here) ...
... the reality is that our society pays enormous respect to minorities - President Bush holds a monthlong Ramadan-a-ding-dong at the White House every year. The immediate reaction to the slaughter of 9/11 by Western leaders everywhere was to visit a mosque to demonstrate their great respect for Islam. ...
The British most definitely DID conquer Afghanistan.
Then they decided it wasn't worth having.
Even at their worst, the Thugees were pikers in cruelty compared to most Muslims.
"In 1841 the Afghans rose against the British in Kabul, killing both British agents and surrounding the British garrison. In early 1842 the garrison surrendered, and was offered safe conduct to return to India. However, the British force (made up mostly of the 44th East Essex regiment) was harassed down the Kabul River gorge and massacred at the Gandamak pass before reaching the besieged garrison at Jalalabad.
In retaliation, the British reinvaded with their large Indian army, relieving the British Jalalabad garrison, and then pushed on to Kabul. Ninety-five prisoners from the earlier massacre were rescued, and the British destroyed the citadel and central bazaar of Kabul. However, as Shah Shuja had been assassinated by this point, the British East India Company decided it was unprofitable to occupy the country and withdrew, only after wiping out virtually all Afghan resistance in Kabul."
Is there a great difference? I don't take your point. My point was the Steyn quote, not the bin Ladin quote.
"What kind of person freely joins a religion that promises death to you if you ever leave it?"
Islam ...the Berlin Wall of religions.
Ridding the Earth of Muslims will be genocide on a scale unmatched by Genghis Khan, Mao Tse-tung, Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler put together. And you want to advocate that?
