Amazing what the investment in a $200 GPS unit from Wal-Mart can do to save one's Higgenbothum from Stiverring to death.....that's it.......get into rural wilderness America and forget the elements can kill you.......hmmmmm....even one of those $10 dash-mount compasses can do wonders if one knows the coast is to the west......

The Stivers family, left to right, Sabastyan, Peter, Marlo and Gabrayell, left for an overnight trip on March 4.

Some dude from California did the same thing about 10 years ago. He was on a sales trip to the southern Oregon coast, and decided to back-road it across the coast range. Got stuck in a blizzard, waited till his gas (heat) ran out, then being half starved and dehydrated, died on the 19 mile hike out. Had he left immediately, he would have made it.

They have the foresight to realize that most Oregonians will not be able to spell in the future....just helping the next generation. Dumbing it down.

must not have been driving an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL suv.My first thought was exactly the opposite.
All it takes for some people to think they're invincible is to get behind the wheel of an SUV.

Girlfriend's son got one of the nicer model Magellans.....he's headed back to Afghanistan this fall......besides he's got responsibility now as an E-6 to keep his troops in the right places and out of serious do-do......his model is seriously global... must must me programmed by the intel guys (S2?) for up-to-date maps of Iraq and Afghanistan. Much easier to use than the GI issue that gives coordinates only, batteries last longer and is much lighter. No GPS units, other than military issue, have Iraq and Afghanistan capabilities......can't let the jihadis get an upper hand.

Looks like this is not the first Peter for Mrs. Stivers...

Yes, I couldn't help but notice it looks as if Mr. is the only one smiling in (what appears to be) their wedding picture.

I bought a bargain GPS from Ted Kennedy once. I went on a hike with it. It constantly kept telling me to go to the left. I finally ended up circling round and round in some poor guy's swimming pool...

90 POUND SUBURBAN HOUSEWIFE DRIVIN' IN HER S.U.V.
Good morning, America!
Are you anywhere near a parking lot?
VERSE
Let me warn you right now
You're in for a war
There's someone a waitin'
To take your parkin' spot
She's hell on wheels
She's the new big deal
She's America's true sweetheart
Oh, she's a...
CHORUS
90 pound suburban housewife
Drivin' in her SUV
Talkin' on her cell phone
Oblivious to you and me
Kids in the back seat watchin' the
little T.V.
She's a 90 pound suburban housewife
driving in her SUV.
VERSE
There I was a-drivin' down U.S. High-
way One
In my little Corolla
Enjoyin' the noon day sun
Then all of a sudden
I heard her engine roar
With rhino bars scarin' little cars
Goin' to the grocery stores.
Oh, she's a...
CHORUS
VERSE
She may be your neighbor
She may be your wife
She may be your mother for the
rest of your life
But one thing's for certain, I think
you'll all agree
With tons of steel and 4 big wheels
She'll be drivin' like an S.O.B.
Oh, she's a...
CHORUS
