Family Missing For Over Two Weeks Is Found
March 21, 2006
- By KATU.com Web Staff
MEDFORD, Ore. - A family who has been missing for over two weeks has been found alive in the hills north of Medford.
The Stivers family was last heard from on March 4 as they were leaving for an overnight trip on the Oregon coast.
The missing included Marlo Hill-Stivers and Peter Stivers (husband and wife), 10-year-old Sabastyan Stivers and 9-year-old Gabrayell Stivers (their children) and Becky Higgenbothum and her husband Elbert Higgenbothum (in-laws).
According to preliminary reports, the family took a wrong turn and got stuck in the snow, which would explain why none of the family's bank accounts had been used since they disappeared.
Two of the family members walked out and were found by a Bureau of Land Management employee, according to Josephine County Undersheriff Brian Anderson.
The area where the family got stuck is in southwestern Douglas County near the Curry County line.
The area is inaccessible by vehicle due to a heavy snow pack, but a search and rescue operation is under way to get to the family.

One thing I learned, gotta be quick on your toes around here. Glad I wasn't the only one who went searching, though.

This family must not have any beautiful young women in it, or Greta would have talked about them non-stop for the last two weeks.
Glad they're OK, sorry about the looks.

I used to know a family called Missus. The dad was Mister Missus, the mom was Mrs. Missus, and the girls were Miss Missus. Missus? Yes, I miss you.

Two weeks stuck in the snow with your in-laws? If that isn't a description of hell freezing over I don't know what is.....
Seriously, I hope the rest of them are okay. Two weeks is a long time to be in the cold. When I go into the mountains in the winter I take a lot of stuff, but not two weeks worth.
