OCALA, Fla. -- A Florida judge said a plea deal for a Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old would "erode public confidence in" schools.
Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stencil has rejected the plea deal for Debra Lafave, 25. The judge said the deal would undermine the credibility of the criminal justice system.
Prosecutors and the defense lawyer had urged the judge to accept the deal for the good of the boy. A psychiatrist told the judge the boy suffered extreme anxiety because of intense media coverage of the case and does not want to testify.
Lafave was charged in two counties where she's accused of having sex with the student.
A judge in Hillsborough County accepted a plea deal there in November and sentenced Lafave to three years of house arrest and seven years' probation. She pleaded guilty in November to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery for having sex with the boy in a classroom and her home.
This woman can have her 15 minutes of fame and cash it, if she's not too embarrased to be seen in public!
If that is the standard, then the vast majority of men have no concience, which may in fact be the case.
Please explain that.

I've yet to meet one of these boys or men who don't have some degree of twerked attitudes towards sex and females.
And you may think your daughter is level headed, but if she sees her brother having more fun, she'll have her day too.

They really don't. One time, about three years ago, there was a freeper here who asserted that her 17 year old son had never masturbated. How did she know? Because she asked him and he said he didn't. LOL. Anyway, she went nuts when everyone on the thread assured her that he probably has a couple of hundred times already.
When I was 15 and working at a restaurant I was accosted by an attractive married mother who was friends with one of my female coworkers. She looked a lot like Annabella Sciorra and was just my type physically. All I could think about was her kids and how devastated I would be if my mom had ever done something like that.
It wasn't that tough a call for me and I'm certain that I am much better off psychologically for never having that on my conscience.
The question is: Would you be more upset if you had a 14-year old girl molested by a male teacher than if your 14 year old boy had sex with a female teacher. I bet you would.
No, actually, I believe it has an effect on self esteem, and not a good effect. This boy is now prone to unhealthy relationships with women.

Yes,but our LEGAL SYSTEM does not-or SHOULD not-distinguish between men and women when a crime is commited.
Should a woman get a lesser sentence for robbing a bank than a male robber?
Or maybe an Asian woman should get a lesser sentence for prostitution than a Latina one?
I believe the comment was that the boy committed two sins (adultery and sex outside marriage) without knowledge that he committed such sins.
From a theological perspective, the most likely belief is that he would be punished, whether he knows he commited sin or not.
Hence, he is a "victim."
Or if you want to be New Agey about it --- he'll get the bad karma of sleeping with another man's wife.

I'm referring to the fact here that her being older than him won't make him regret it. He is not a 'victim' of an older woman. Yes, he is a 'victim' of sexuality . . . but that's not the story here, I think.
I wasn't so much referring to his prospective bride's reaction to his moral failure as much as his state of mind in disclosing same to her. Is it something he would be proud to disclose to her, or is it something he would be ashamed of?

I was a lifeguard at 15, and at one time I had a semi-secret affair with a 19 yo woman, for the summer.
At 17, I had a gf who was 15, and for a time I was 18 when she was 15.
I have absolutely nothing but fond memories of those years. And the old gf remembers it very fondly, too. No harm, no foul. And certainly no regrets.
