Hundreds of people filled Tampa's courthouse square Sunday to mark the third anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq, as thousands did the same throughout the country.
"After three years, it's a failure," said protestor Mabili Ajani. "It's a clear and utter failure."
That belief was shared by many of the anti-war protesters, and some sounded off about how to get out of Iraq.
"We're going to have to clean the mess up," said Michael White. "Somebody's going to have to. We need to get our children out of harm's way. Strategic withdrawal is where it's at."
The message to bring the troops home resonated with Major Raymond Simmons, who retired to the Bay area after being wounded in Iraq. He sported his uniform at the rally and became part of what was supposed to be a peaceful anti-war movement.
One of the flags a protester waved was branded with a swastika, a sight that angered Simmons, who argued for 15 minutes with the waver of the controversial flag about what type of protest was appropriate to mark the occasion.
"Our president made a lot of goofball mistakes, but Americans are not Nazis," said Simmons.
Simmons and his adversary eventually agreed to disagree. Simmons displayed his own flag to honor the troops and said the the reference to Hitler degrades the men and women who are fighting overseas.
"They do not represent the peace movement," said Simmons. "We're trying to bring the guys home with respect and dignity. This is not what they're trying to do."
This weekend, President George Bush asked Americans to be patient as political leaders in Iraq create a unity government. He said he's encouraged by the progress and that victory in Iraq will lay the foundation for generations to come.

Moronic Convergence in Hollywood
LGF operative Ringo the Gringo was at yesterdays moronic convergence in Hollywood with his camera, and emailed more than 80 photos of the reality-based community doing the anti-war mambo. The crowds are getting smaller at these demonstrations, but as youll see in this slideshow I put together, the remaining moonbats are getting even battier: . There were between 2000 and 3000 people tops at the San Francisco rally. It was one of their smallest ever. They're become weaker on every front, I'm glad to say.I notice in the pictures they getting more and more anti-semetic. There're more and more Hitler, SS and Nazi refererences. Unbelievable.
Oh, class act. And that table with all the Marxist propaganda on it is a direct flash-back to Berkeley days. pathetic.
If I were the last man on earth, I wouldn't even let you get in the line. |
Yes, they are a scurvy and scurrilous crew- and these aren't the worst, by far- give LGF's field reporter's site a shot, and look for the Scrotum Inflator Dude:

My first thought was, "She looks pretty enough, but no, not even with somebody else's xxxx..."
As my Sainted Mother used to say, "You don't know where that's been..."
Good one! :)
I just got back from that link - I looked at all of the "Hall of Shame" photos. Now I need to go wash out my brain. Maybe with a good bleach rinse too...
Individuals such as Mabili Ajani want to see the Stars and Stripes with a swastika superimposed. It represents their skewed world view perfectly. See below:
Addek a.k.a. Da A Double D also referred to as The Huey Newton of Hip Hop commandeered the underground hip hop scene around Tampa in 2003. He appeared with longtime collaborator Speax on WMNF 88.5s compilation Unified Collision. Together they shattered the race barriers by becoming the first interracial hip hop duo to create a volatile song exploring race relations in America. That track was the anchor track for Addek and Speaxs first release together which shared the same title as their explosive song Indivisible.
Addek began his solo career with the controversial full length release: Hip Hop 9/11! Hip Hop 9/11 contains material so contentious that Addek and Speax were forced offstage by a show organizer to prevent offending a city mayor. Free speech? The politically charged anthem Critikal Timez was the culprit, a crowd favorite. This underground classic is the closing song for Mabili Ajanis long time show Critical Times on WMNFs 88.5. This track is also featured in the DVDAftershock, a documentary that contains other music produced and written by Addek. Addek released Hip hop 9/11 on his independent label Realityhiphop.com which he started as a producer in 2003.
Addek is ranked #1 in hip hop, and #7 overall on Podsafeaudio.com and climbing. Addek is exploding online and has a massive internet buzz. Just Google his name. Using the internet, podcasts, and other guerilla P.R. tactics Addek is expanding his independent label when he isnt studying for a Political Science Degree from USF (12/05). Also production on an equally explosive video for Critikal Timez and his next release Rise 2 Power has begun, which will propel hip hop to the next level.
A revolutionary in the making...
A breath of fresh air from the smog of commercially-control messages of mainstream hip-hop.

These independent hip hop artists deliver some of the most provocative, politically aware
and revolutionary lyrics in the regions vital underground rap scene.
On the bright side, we're lucky to have opponents so extreme that they look ridiculous- no normal person I've ever known would be caught dead looking and acting the way they do.
Now if we could just get the MSM to cover it...
No protest warriors this time?
They still around?
"We need to get our children out of harm's way."
Why do these lib morons keep leaving their kids in harm's way? Thank goodness conservative adults join the military and protect them and us.
Hey, I wonder if that chick is serious. She's kinda hot.
Simmons is wrong on TWO counts.
(1)It is NOT a peace movement. They are decidedly PRO-Palestinian War (including some who vocally support the use of suicide bombers).
(2)They DO represent the anti-American War movement. I've seen plenty of communist, marxist, and anarchist banners at these left wing hate rallies. They hold up banners that say "I support our troops when they shoot their officers" and "I love NY more with out the WTC".
He's a useful idiot for siding with anti-American agitators.
We need to take the war to their nations. First and foremost is the concept of religious freedom. They must acknowledge the rights of others to NOT be muslims.
Not just "people of the book" (Jews/Christians) but Hindus, Buddhists, etc.
They sentence muslims who convert away from the faith to death. They murder clerics who call for "reforms" (Mohammed was the last prophet and so any reformation is blasphemy).
If the rest of the world is going to look down their collective noses at the US for prohibiting same sex marriage, then certainly the same international pressure that was brought to South Africa could be brought to Islamic nations to push for the concept of religious freedom.
Islam is a supremacist ideology (like Nazism). It is a birthright. Imam have said it is okay for a muslim man to marry a woman who converts to Islam but not okay for a muslim woman to marry a man who converts to Islam.
Islam must come to terms with the unchangeable fact that there are other beliefs in this world.
Jane Fonda was pleading for Americans to accept Communism, not just as a competing political system but hoping that we would also embrace it and become a communist nation.
They are pleading for Mumia to be "freed" and then make the case against the death penalty. Someone should ask this useful idiot if she is aware that Mumia is off death row.
