John Kerry: NYC Gone by 2036 (Boston and New York Are Being Destroyed by Bush!)
NewsMax ^ | 3/17/06

Posted on 03/17/2006 10:34:52 AM PST by areafiftyone

Failed presidential candidate John Kerry offered a startling prediction Friday morning: If the U.S. doesn't change its global warming ways, New York City and Boston will be destroyed by flooding by 2036.

"I can say to an absolute certainty," Kerry told radio host Don Imus, "that if things stay exactly as they are today absent some unpredictable change in what's going on, within the next 30 years the Arctic ice sheet is gone.

"Not maybe, not if - the Arctic ice sheet is gone," the Massachusetts Democrat insisted, before offering his hair-raising prediction.

"Already you have the Greenland ice sheet beginning to melt . . . If that melts, you have a level of sea level increase that wipes out Boston Harbor, New York Harbor - I mean, it's just stunning what we're looking at."

Kerry blamed the Bush administration's environmental policies for the coming destruction of New York and Boston.

"Europe and the other countries are responding," he told Imus. "The United States remains oblivious - at least the administration remains oblivious."

Despite the dire warning, Kerry hasn't done much to change his own global warming ways.

At last report, he and his wife still owned several SUV's, a gas guzzling yacht, five BTU gobbling homes and a private jet.

Like fellow environmentalist RFK, Jr., Kerry continues to withold his support for the proposed construction of a wind farm in the waters off Nantucket, where he and his wife own a mansion.

"I can say to an absolute certainty," Kerry told radio host Don Imus, "that if things stay exactly as they are today absent some unpredictable change in what's going on, within the next 30 years the Arctic ice sheet is gone."

"Not maybe, not if - the Arctic ice sheet is gone,"

Note to Sen. (S)kerry:
Take a tall glass and fill it with ice cubes. Then fill to the rim with water. Sit back and wait, If you are patient you may observe that the water level in the glass drops as the ice melts. This is true because ice is less dense than liquid water (that's why it floats fool!). So it stands to reason that all of the ice floating in the Arctic ocean is actually raising the ocean's level, if it melts the ocean's level would drop.

Try thinking before opening mouth and removing all doubt that you are indeed an idiot.

Regards,
GtG

PS The same is not true for ice which is not floating (icecaps and glaciers &c). So before we speculate as to what will happen, we need to know how much water is tied up in floating ice Vs. land-bound ice. I suggest a Senatorial inquiry is required.

Do you all realize that we have another John-Kerry "I voted for the war before I voted against it" moment? Read his words:

"I can say to an absolute certainty ... that if things stay exactly as they are today ... absent some unpredictable change ... within the next 30 years the Arctic ice sheet is gone. "

How can you say with "absolute certainy" and then hedge your certain opinion a moment later?

Kerry remains a complete moron, in addition to being a hypocrite as regards his own lifestyle.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Three major league baseball teams will need new homes, so three cities currently without a team will have a chance to acquire one.

Without NYC, New York will be competitive for Republicans at the Presidential level.

So it stands to reason that all of the ice floating in the Arctic ocean is actually raising the ocean's level, if it melts the ocean's level would drop.

Assuming that the ice is floating at the beginning of the experiment, your analysis is incorrect: The water level will not change.

By Archimedes' Principle, a floating object displaces an amount of water equal in weight to itself. When ice melts, it becomes water. Therefore, the water into which the ice melts will exactly occupy the volume displaced by the unmelted ice.

(In practice, if we speak of ice floating on the sea, we should note that the melting ice will cause a slight reduction of the concentration of dissolved salts, and thus cause a small increase in total sea volume. But the effect in question would, as a practical matter, be insignificant).

Since monsieur Kerry is a 'musician', I'm sure he's singing this ditty as he strums his guitar while jetting to his Ski Lodge for the weekend.
You've got to change your Global Warming ways, Dybya,
before New York and Boston's gone.
You've got to change, Dubya,
the ice caps are meltin' and Greenland too.
You've got us drownin', cause all you do is harm
Halliburton's a sneakin', we're trying to spread the alarm
This can't go on, Lord knows you got to change, Dubya.

In a few years, Dubya,
Boston will be flooded and New York.gone
You've been hangin' round, Dubya,
with Karl and Dick and-a Halliburton too.
I'm gettin' tried of waitin' and you foolin' around, Global warning's real, yet you think I'm a clown. This can't go on, Lord knows you got to change, Dubya.

In a few years. Dubya,
my house in Nantucket will be flooded
and my Ski Lodge sold.
You've been messin' round, Dubya,
while the seas are a risin' and the Ozone goin'
I'm gettin' tried of waitin' and you foolin' around,
We'll find somebody who won't make us feel like clowns.
This can't go on... Lord knows you got to change, Dubya.

Then again, I hope he isn't singing.

Yes, and Jimmah Carter predicted with equal certainty that there would be no oil left by the year 2000. What buffoons these environazi dems are! But on the bright side...maybe this predition will come true. I'd say it would be a vast improvement to the country.

Makes one hope that those on this thread that think Bush is not good enough, may rethink their position. Thank you, Lord, we have President Bush instead of this idiot.

Didn't we hear from Ted Dansen, among many others on many topics, about how we'd destroy ourselves by 1995 or something like that.

I remember hearing in grade school in the '70s about how there'd be no oil left sometime in the '80s.

Yup. This joker's got about as much credibility left as Gore. If he'd quit blowing hot-air, I'm convinced the ice-sheets would would beging growing again.
