You're welcome, Billie. It is beautiful music.
You are welcome. I am pleased you enjoyed it.
MEG33 ~ I remember WWII, I was eleven when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Gasoline wasn't a problem as dad was a farmer and we had plenty of gas and dad gave our meat ration stamps to close friends.
"...I am thinking that it would be nice to post it every Sunday..."
ooo that too would be altogether lovely!:) & I'm glad you understood my 1st post as intended...Some might not have without further explaination...Nice to know that you "get me" =understand my meaning...no explaination required...that is a blessing!
It was fun playing with you too! Thank you Billie!
Hi Wolfie! Where did you find that picture of me!?! Lol!
I just found out FR had its own thread on the subject of the Franklin. I managed to miss it at the time. Here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/vetscor/1175363/posts?page=1
The Franklin was only 50 miles off the Japanese coast. She was hit in the last months of the war. The incident is a stark reminder of the horrendous price we would have had to pay to invade the Japanese home islands. The estimate was as many as one MILLION dead -- and Heaven knows how many more Japanese casualties. We (and especially the Japanese) were spared from that cataclysm by Truman's decision to drop the atomic bombs. Thousands died at Himoshima and Nagasaki but the bloodshed ended at once. Counting all, then, the A-bombs actually saved millions of lives.
Thank you, Billie.
Your comments made me appreciate my name so much more.
Everyone loves the sound of their own name .... Billie :)
