Hollywood, CA (AHN) Hollywood funnyman and Oscar-winner, Robin Williams vows to care for Christopher and Dana Reeve's 13-year-old orphaned son, Will.
The former Superman star passed away in October 2004, and wife died of lung cancer last week.
Reeves and Williams became close friends while studying acting together at the Juilliard School of drama in New York City.
Williams committed himself to the family after Reeve was paralyzed in a 1995 riding accident.
The World Entertainment News Network quotes a relative of Dana's who says of Williams, "He has already been making good on a promise he made to Chris in 1995. They were closer than brothers and Robin swore then and there that he would look after Dana and Will after Chris was gone. Both of them knew Chris might not last long but neither of them could possibly have imagined the tragedy that would befall Dana so soon after Chris's own death."
Kudos to Robin Williams and prayers for both him and Will.
The young Mr. Reeves will need someone around who can make him laugh despite the tragedy in the past few years of his life.
unfortunately it's absolutely impossible for some FReepers.
However, my guess is that those that make the most noise about certain actors tend to watch those shows.
Well said, chica!
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who fulfills his word to a close, departed friend as Mr. Williams is doing here, is OK in my book. In this matter, politics is utterly irrelevant.
thanks... At least a child will have someone looking out for him. I am very happy about that.
Apply where needed.
Love him or hate him, this is a stand up act by a guy who stepped up to be there for his friend. If you can't respect and honor that, well . . . . . I'll just leave it at that.
That's true, he releases all kinds of animals on the massive, Hollywood estate. Hunts them with helicopters blasting Flight of the Valkyries ala Apocalypse Now and then relaxes poolside in the olympic sized pool filled with Evian and lemons the size of basketballs floating in it.
I respect that he goes out there and entertains our soldiers serving abroad.
I don't know if they want him, but the effort is commendable.
He has a secret lab under the Griffith Observatory where Chinese scientists work in slave labor conditions constructing nano technology that looks like tiny old-fashioned lawn mowers to that run ceaselessly around his body, keeping the hair levels to exact lengths...
Good for him.
"Williams likes nannies...a lot!"
Wasn't he cheating on his wife with the 'nannie' and when the wife found out Williams divorced her and married the 'nannie. Who is now the current Mrs. W?
"If I boycotted every musician, writer, artist or actor when I disagreed with their politics, life would be pretty freaking dull."
I guess you didn't understand my point. It is not a matter of disagreeing. They use their stardom to promote "their" disagreement with their politics. It is an unfair advantage and I think boycotting is the only way we have to show we do disagree. They are certainly entitled to express their opinions, and so am I, unfortunately, no one is going to give me the time of day.

(sorry, couldn't resist)
Hate is a very destructive force, be very careful, you hate so much.
O Captain, my Captain!
(one of the best movie scenes of all time, BTW)
I was wondering if Robin Williams was going to help out. How wonderful of him to take the Reeve boy and raise him as his own!
Ditto. Way to go, Mr. Williams!
