Hollywood, CA (AHN) Hollywood funnyman and Oscar-winner, Robin Williams vows to care for Christopher and Dana Reeve's 13-year-old orphaned son, Will.
The former Superman star passed away in October 2004, and wife died of lung cancer last week.
Reeves and Williams became close friends while studying acting together at the Juilliard School of drama in New York City.
Williams committed himself to the family after Reeve was paralyzed in a 1995 riding accident.
The World Entertainment News Network quotes a relative of Dana's who says of Williams, "He has already been making good on a promise he made to Chris in 1995. They were closer than brothers and Robin swore then and there that he would look after Dana and Will after Chris was gone. Both of them knew Chris might not last long but neither of them could possibly have imagined the tragedy that would befall Dana so soon after Chris's own death."
Hasn't the kid had it bad enough already?
I'll be the first to say that I don't care much for Williams' politics, but I have alot of respect for him for this gesture in trying to rescue a child in what is a pure tragedy.
That is very generous. I do believe legally he will reside with the sister of his mother.
Again, it doesn't surprise me, that Williams would take such action he was after all a very close family friend.
Yeah. I don't like Williams or Reeve, but this is pretty nice.
First he's orphaned. Now, he has to be raised by a foul-mouthed druggie egomaniac.
If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. He is fulfilling a promise he made to a friend. Sheesh!
Hope Williams stopped all the drugs though.
I'm sure he can easily afford to stick a nanny on the kid though.
Not very funny, I didn't hear about you stepping up to take care of the boy.
I suspect the gay character he played in The Birdcage is much more like him than his other personnas. He is probably a warm and caring parent in spite of his political views.
And I am entititled to my opinion. These Hollywood elites are all about grand gestures that amount to nothing in substance, which is why they worship Bill Clinton.
Welcome to the 21st century -- politics over-rides everything.
Nanu Nanu
I don't care for his politics either, but I gained new respect for him when I heard he was doing USO tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Robin Williams has obvious faults, but this is good. I believe he's also entertained the troops.

He's an extremely talented and, therefore, convincing actor who is obviously capable of making people believe.
What a decent, humane, and kind thing to do. God bless Robin Williams and young Will Reeves, a boy the same age as my youngest son.
How dare you say something nice about an actor while we're in the midst of jerking our knees...
