I agree. This whole thing shows that conservatives can be as kneejerk and ready to jump to conclusions based on emotion as liberals, and certain conservative pundits (eg. Malkin) are not immune from cherrypicking quotes and facts to bolster their case, just like the MSM does.

"I highly resent your statement that Americans are ignorant."

How many American Security Guards would it have taken to secure the UAE owned ports had the deal went through?

All planned by Cheney so that Halliburton would get the gig.

I'm seriously wondering how the left is going to come down on this one.

yup, and when you get all the facts, I think, unfortunately, that is what is pushing this. the mob.

I'd like to think that the US is afraid of foriegn interests. but i seriously doubt it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the DC snipers converted to Islam in prison prior to their sniping spree?

Is seems that the media went out of their way to conceal that part of the story.

But did you know that there are 123 verses in the Quran concerning fighting and killing for the cause of Allah?

There are many references in the Old Testament where Gaod commands the Israelits to Wipe Out every man, woman, child in the pagan cultures they encounteredm ... so what.

Islamofascists represent a lunatic portion of Islam ... albeit a significant enough part to be a threat to our existence. This does not mean, however, that every adherent to the Muslim faith is our enemy ... anymore than Fred Phelps and his loonie fringe represent all of Christianity.

The other bidders were a Singapore company (largely muslim) and Hong Kong company and a Dutch company. Does that really make you feel better.

AND the Hong Kong company is probably partly owned by CHINA!

I don't have time to read this thread. If this has already been said, I really apologize.

The agreement read by John Warner said only that they would put up the american assets of P&O for sale to any american comapny willing to buy. It did not mention any other U.S. assets.

They also said they would not accept a loss, and they wanted time to do a proper sale.

"I told you they are nothing but a bunch of terrorist arab muslim SOB's, didn't I!!"

LOL!
Reminds of something I heard once:
"They may be a bunch of SOB's, but they are OUR SOB's."

You don't get it OKIEDOC,,there are some Freepers who get totally offended and resort to smear tactics when their opinion isn't agreed upon lockstep. Crazy, isn't it? The issue gets lost and the discussion disintegrates into name-calling and the like.

I'm waiting to read all the predictions made by those who can see the future and will say, well, "Dubai hates us now" and, "They are going to throw out our Naval Fleet now." This is a business deal and DPW made their choice. We can live with that. Dubai most certainly live with that. Dubai was not hanging onto this deal as a showstopper regarding relations with the USA, although, to read about it here, all kinds of terrible fire and brimstone are going to rein down on the US because of this latest circumstance. I just wonder if any of those who can predict the future can tell me which numbers to pick for the next Powerball lottery.

"Those people are certainly reliable allies, aren't they?"

Do you mean allies as in standing there and taking a raping at the hands of politicians who are playing chicken little to score political points in an election year?

Or do you mean allies that have the respect and trust of our government?

If you mean the former, then I'm afraid you don't know the meaning of the word "allies".

The winner of this fiasco is the President. He remained above the fray, but he was still playing his poker hand. Mysteriously, just at the right time today, Dubai pulled out. I wonder how that happened.

Now, the Dims and some stupid Republicans are the losers and will be strongly castigated when the ramifications start coming out.

The American public is also a loser because of loss of air bases, naval bases, etc. But, IMO, they will be losers only temporarily. The deal will go through later on after all kinds of machinations as Congress tries to back off. Plus, a re-shuffle of the names of the ownership of the UAE will take place........and again, the deal will go through.

I'm loving this. Pres. Bush will come out of this smelling like the yellow rose of Texas.

Doubt it. I bet there is a Dubai interest lurking somewhere in that decision.
