4 CORNER FReep #46 at Walter Reed, March 3, 2006
3/8/06 | PleaDeal

Posted on 03/08/2006 6:41:50 PM PST by PleaDeal

On March 3rd, we held ALL FOUR CORNERS of the main gate at Walter Reed for the seventh week in a row for FReep #46. The Pinkos are still holding their “vigil” waaaaay down the block and the wounded warriors and their relatives do NOT have to pass close by them to enter or leave Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We had another great turnout of FReepers and friends from the DC Chapter and beyond despite the freezing wind.

The honor roll of those hardy enough to attend (lurkers are marked with an asterisk*):

Albion Wilde, Bill* from MD, BufordP, concretebob, Coop, CindyTrueSupporter, Danang68*, Doctor Raoul, Dustin10thMountain, Fraxinus, iMacMan, IraqiKurd, Jack Deth, Justanobody, Kristinn, Navy Wife*, PleaDeal, StayTrue, tgslTakoma, Tom the Redhunter, trooprally [Mr & Mrs], WarriorNurse, and a handful of shivering but boisterous conservative young'uns. If I missed someone, please throw a brick at me in the comments!

We had coffee, hot chocolate, and tea on site that tgslTakoma graciously provides every week, and Doctor Raoul brought fresh baked Philly preztles! Despite having this great canteen, we were blown away by the thoughtfullness and generousity of the family of a wounded warrior.

We were visited by a couple of wonderful ladies and a young boy who brought us cups and cups of cappuccino, coffee, cocoa and doughnuts; and they thanked us for being out there for the soldiers in WR, and we thanked them profusely for the warmth! They were at WR to be with their husband/brother/uncle, Daniel from Ohio (4ID), who was seriously injured in 2003. He had plates put in his arm and he is going to have another surgery on Monday.

The Angel in the red jacket was incredibly nice. She asked us to sign the back of her T-shirt so she could give it to her brother after his surgery. As tgslTakoma said on the last AAR, "Please pass the word along to folks you know to remember Daniel from Ohio (4ID) in their prayers."

A bunch of us enjoying our wonderful gifts.

Coop and iMacMan holding down the Northwest corner.
Concretebob's Marine Corps flag was waiving briskly all night.

More flags whipping in the early evening.
Right: Tom the RedHunter. I think that smile was frozen in-place.

Above: CindyTrueSupporter, Jack Deth, and Concretebob.

At left: the indefatigable tglsTakoma!

Dustin10thMountain taking a respite from the wind.

A couple of wild and crazy guys. Concretebob and IraqiKurd started off the evening in the "spirit".

Danang68* and Trooprally [Mr.] manning one of the terrific banners Albion Wilde made.

Doctor Raoul holding down the flag on the SE corner.

Why are we out here freezing? What keeps these people coming back week after week, month after month, for almost a whole year? How could anyone stay motivated to jump in the car/truck after work every Friday night, drive for hours in terrible traffic, just to stand on a D.C. street corner holding a sign and a flag no matter what the weather is like?

Because it's the least we can do for these guys.

Code Pink continues to have its little "vigil" despite not having anyone to look at them. They managed to gather 8 bodies to at least make a showing.
Meanwhile, waaaay down the block... Pinkos appeared with a novel, new sign... and this poor, elderly woman in a wheelchair. They've been abusing this senior citizen for several weeks by exposing her to the harsh elements and to Perry's awful serenades.

This Friday may produce a lot more moonbats. Kristinn and Spiff attended a propaganda event presented by CodePink on Tuesday night from which Spiff gave quite a report on the creepy, hypocritical behavior of our antagonists.

After it was over, Kristinn and I went up to speak with Gael, Allison, and Jodie - the head Code Pinkos. She asked what we thought. Kristinn replied that he couldn't say what he felt because we were in a church. I responded, "Good show. It was very well executed." You'd think that I had slapped the Pinko. She was taken aback that I would express the obvious about their well crafted propaganda stunt. She said, "You don't think that we told these women what to say, do you?" Kristinn, always quick with the comeback said, "No. The Baath Party trained them well enough." I expressed a question about the "diversity" of the women in the presentation and asked why there were none of the Iraqi and Kurdish women who are grateful that we have freed them from a brutal dictator, helped them form a Constitution, and given them the freedom to vote. She blew off my comment and shoved at us the traitor mom who is dishonoring her son's service and memory. That conversation was like having a rational debate with a middle-schooler. She ran away after a minute.

Fearless FReepers continued to confront the moonbats today. tgslTakoma FReeped the Iraqi Embassy and the White House to the consternation of Sheehag et al:

I didn't get many photos, and only a bit of video, too. Short report: Kristinn, I and our friend Nofel were at the Iraqi Embassy to greet Medea Benjamin, Gael Murphy and Cindy Sheehan as they delivered their manifesto to a representative of the government of Free Iraq. As Cindy Sheehan approached the Embassy Gate to deliver the papers, Kristinn opened up on them with his booming voice, chiding Cindy Sheehan for marching with a group that is funding terrorists who are killing more American soldiers. Sheehan was stunned by the sight and sound of counterprotesters.

Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin and all the rest of the usual suspects will be sure to use the opportunity to fill the ranks of anti-American freaks lurking down the block from Walter Reed's main gate, so please come out and show your support for the GOOD GUYS!

Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, and their families have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink and their ugly anti-troops agenda.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag... who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag... who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Were it not for the brave... there would be no land of the free.

This sign was supplied courtesy of US FlagWaver.

Let's help our wounded heroes maintain a positive attitude. We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded troops at Walter Reed that Code Pink doesn't speak for the nation. Even Cindy Sheehan thinks it's wrong to demonstrate at a military hospital. (See Kristinn's post "Cindy Sheehan: Protests at Military Hospitals Out of Bounds (Attn: Code Pink and Veterans for Peace)".

Can you give up next Friday night at the movies to support troops who've given up limbs for your freedoms? Will you?

This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation. So come on out and make some new FRiends and thank some real Heroes!

For those of you in the DC area, we still need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.

Come help us fill All 4 Corners

Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?

As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.

Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave. at Elder St., NW

Patriots have all four corners of that intersection with Protest Warrior having the permit for the two corners on the West and Free Republic DC Chapter having the permit for the two corners on the East.

On street parking is usually easy to find. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from the Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail tgslTakoma and/or BillF (assuming his computer comes back to life), preferably with your cell phone number as far in advance as possible. We'll do our best to arrange a ride from the Takoma Metro station for you.

airborne - you'll have to pardon Albion Wilde's lack of knowldge about the expression, "Danger, Will Robinson". She was probably reading a book or doing home work.

I see. That would certainly define the Code Pinkos - lost in the vast, empty space between their ears.

Pardon me, \/\/ayne, but who is Will Robinson?

Will is the youngest of the Robinson children. He is an electronics whiz capable of keeping the Robot well maintained and operating properly. One of Will's downfalls is his intense curiosity which frequently puts him in harm's way. Will is often unable to distinguish between good and evil, as evident by the large number of deviants with whom he seeks friendship. Will is both a trouble-maker and a hero. His reckless actions often endanger the entire Robinson family, while on the other hand, his common sense has saved lives on numerous occasions. Will is extremely loyal to his family, and has even developed strong friendship with Dr. Smith (who really doesn't deserve any such admiration). Despite Will’s age, he is able to confront the uncertainties of being marooned in space.

Looks like we will have the best FReeping weather in quite some time. Warm and the breeze seems to have slacked off.

LF, you're still sick??!! You better be careful. I just chewed hubby out for nearly letting me die by not telling my I was as sick as I was a few weeks ago. I think I had pneumonia! AB, wasn't it you that reminded me to drink, drink, drink? I think that helped save me. Man, I was in bad shape. STILL not quite over it. AB, you be careful, too!

How about the Michelle Malkin mention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been late to this thread since ya'll took the corners!

Weather's gorgeous here. I hope it was a nice night. I should have been outside fanning it your way.

Hi all! Just got home! I hope our sickies (you know who you are) will soon be well enough to join us. You are missed.

What a glorious night! Warm...t-shirt, no jacket! Great turnout so we were able to raise the MOAB and the 2 mini MOABs.

We had a lot of soldiers come out to visit...including Joshua and his dad, Mike. Josh made it to all 4 corners using crutches, in order to speak to each of us. He wanted to go down the block and harass the pinkos, but his dad did not think it wise. He arrived back at the main corner and sat in a chair for a while before deciding he needed to go in. He had a long day touring the Pentagon and then out with us.

One soldier stopped to shake everyone's hand and thank us for being there. We of course thanked him and explained that they (the troops) are why we are there. He was a pleasure to talk to and had many interesting things to say. If you want the truth...talk to the troops!

A lovely couple stopped thank us and asked about our FReep. They had been visiting a friend and spotted us as they were leaving. They spent the rest of the evening with us.

Hope you enjoyed a peak into the evening events.
