Mohammed Reza Taheriazar, lone jihadist

New details from ABC 11 in Raleigh, N.C., about the Muslim man who plowed into students on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus today:

The driver of an SUV that plowed into a group of pedestrians at UNC-Chapel Hill on Friday told police it was retribution for the treatment of Muslims around the world, according to ABC News.

It happened around noon Friday in front of Lenoir Hall on the campus, in a common area known as the Pit. Paramedics took six people to UNC Hospitals. Five had been released by Friday evening and the sixth was not expected to be admitted.

Officials say none of the people were seriously injured. Three refused treatment at the scene.

Chapel Hill police say they arrested the suspect, Mohammed Reza Taheriazar, 23, of Chapel Hill, shortly after the incident. Several witnesses were able to give police the rented Jeep Cherokee's license plate number.

Police said they would charge Taheriazar, a psychology major who graduated from UNC last semester, with several counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

...Sources say Taheriazar told police he was seeking retribution for the treatment of Muslims around the world, according to ABC News justice correspondent Pierre Thomas. Taheriazar apparently told police he tried to rent the biggest SUV he could find to use in the attack.

By Friday afternoon, a police SWAT team had surrounded a Carrboro apartment complex where Taheriazar reportedly lived.

Taheriazar is a native of Iran and a December 2005 UNC graduate, according to the Raleigh News and Observer.

Bob Owens is updating the story.

I keep thinking I should get an SKS carbine for that purpose.

Evidently, growing up in the US didn't make this guy appreciate America.

"Taheri-azar was born in Iran, but grew up in Indian Trail, near Charlotte."

"Taheri-azar told police Friday, "If you want to know why I did it, go check my bed at my apartment."

Why, is it wet?

Here's a local news story about it.

Lately I've been thinking that I don't recognize this country nor do I feel comfortable in it any longer. I don't expect to not have issues and complaints, hey, you can't please everyone. But come on, it's getting our ridiculous. I don't know if I am getting paranoid or what (lol) but whenever I am in public I look around and I am a minority. I am on the same shopping schedule as this family and the women wear the full burkas, with the screen for eyes. They freak me out.

I've always said that people tend to specialize according to their respective personalities.

It certainly shows in the medical profession, eg, sadistic surgeons, childlike pediatricians, women hating GYNs.

Mentally disturbed mental health professionals...

I am sure Chancellor Moeser would like to hire him. After all, he lost the Talaban spokesman, to Yale. (Which quickly signed HIM up before Harvard could get him.) Time to bring back the mandatory 'understanding Islam' course to UNC freshman. He could be a guest lecturer.

Don't be so sure about that.

There are a ton of mulims & muslim converts in prison.

Very interesting!!

That last paragraph caught my attention particularly b/c many people do "unwittingly and inadvertently support Islamic fascism and Arab Imperialism, with their attempts to wipe out all other cultures, religions and civilizations."

People argue with me and others stating in one way, shape, or form, that we should somehow sympathize with muslims perhaps reading what I would term "provocative" but what they might term "inflammatory" or the like, but that raises a good point. Where is their compassion in like kind for the people that have been and continue to be run over, killed, tortured, etc. by the Islamic oppression machine. It's interesting how they utterly ignore the horrors that Islam has perpetuated.

As in Mr Mcgee's book a good TC Contender w/ a 2-12X Burris LER scope, a harris br-s bipod attached to a second swivel stud on a 14 inch bull barrel with pachmeyer furniture and a neoprene web sling makes a really nice surgical 400 or greater yards tool to remove a boil off yer butt.

My TC is in 223 but if I was to build one today for the same purpose I'd do it in 7.62x39 (AK/SKS caliber) and roll my own with a very very heavy 220gr or heavier bullet to emulate the 300 Whispers almost sub sonic report and ballistics. Add a legal class III NFA supressor from Ops Inc. I have seen those employed out to 300 Meters on beer cans with reliable accuracy.

Lots of truck gun possibilities , KISS principal is key.... one little tack drive is a converted from old 303 caliber to 7.62x54R enfield with a angle iron scope mount, ATS stock, bedded with a harris bipod. 150$ rig inlcuding the optics (old tasco 6-18X) that was 30$ on sale. It has bounced around in the back of the old 4x4 for a year between it's range time , uncased w/ just a muzzle cap made of electrical tape to keep the dust bunnies out..... The finish is rustolium's finest BTW.....:o)

Minute of Torso out to 800 Yards easily maintained......

Just some of my ideas....ya'll Stay safe !

http://www.jpfo.org/smle.htm

A little mission to help the Karens out of chang mi thailand required the use of good enfields with crappy 303 surplus ammo. The Cups ets is same 56,000 +/- as 7.62x54R and the "captured RPD, SVD/FPK ammo works very well. If ya reload you'll want to set the barrel back a few thousandths to prevent fire forming of the brass but at 113$ for 1400 rounds it's not something I worried about....

Kitchen table conversion of a quality rifle with a few handtools as described to a better quality shooter and cheaper source of ammunition, bought or captured !

Good luck !

Stay safe !!

LOL! Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Upon hearing about the conversion of the British .303 SMLE rifle to the 7.62x54R Chicom/Russian cartridge, most people have two basic reactions:

(1) Hey, that sounds interesting. Followed by,

(2) Why do you want to do that?

As stated ......setting the barrel back a few thousandths is the best thing to do but not required if ya don't roll your own. Bulk surplus 7.62x54R is pretty much same price as good .22 rimfire ammo these days when ya find a good source.

ATS makes a great drop in stock, easily glass bedded with accraglass from brownells and here is a link to build a better / best scope mount. I honeycombed / drilled my angle iron to reduce weight & mass but you'll get the idea at the site link below.......

http://www3.sympatico.ca/shooters/ScopeMount.htm

It won't be the NRA gun of the year unless they start a ugly division but it hits, it's cheap and it's a proven light recoiling rig that really can be assembled in a few days of garage work with common handtools.

Mines a black stock with rustolium gun metal grey finish on the metal and the old scope.....
'
Hope that helps ya a bit...I really enjoy mine and have taken a mulie and some whitetails with it over the years.

Stay Safe !
