Legacies





Two striped kittens had Damen Diddelchen
Brother and Sister, Puffchen and Muffchen
Though very similar looking, they were as different can be
Sibling Felines off on their own sprees

Puffchen marveled at things built by Human hands
With solid wood being the Medium preferred
Studying chairs and tables for hours without a word
While the Piano sent him into an Enigmatic land

"How do Humans do it?" Puffchen wondered agaze
"Where do the pretty sounds come from?" Leaping atop the gleaming, elegant maze
Puffchen slid under the angled up cover
And did not surface for what Muffchen thought were days

"It's all made of wood!" He exclaimed to his sister
"And so many tight strings That my paw pads have blisters!"
"The keys outside hit the strings inside to make it sing!
"Isn't that the most beautiful, yet oddest thing?"

Then when Puffchen went away
Muffchen was lost and sad for days
Until the Damen sat before the Box That Sings
And Muffchen saw the keys press down and then she heard the strings

It was then that Muffchen understood
The Magic of ivory keys, strings and curved and pegged wood
Though sitting through the Recitals, Muffchen had little choice
When she could swear she could hear her Brother's voice!
