The removal of the Confederate flag from Amherst County's official seal has upset Southern heritage groups, who contend residents weren't told of the change. County officials acknowledge the image was quietly removed in August 2004 to avoid an uproar.

Anyone who is interested can go to past threads or even back into this one.
That was merely to assure the world that Canada was not to be included. The signatories signed as representatives of the United States of America. CAnnot escape that. Franklin did not sign "Benjamin Franklin, Pennslyvania" etc.
Don't worry you have no ability to enlighten me and little to enlighten anyone else.
Sorry but Washington, Jefferson, and Madison belonged to that generation with sufficient integrity to recognize that slavery was a wrong which had to be dealt with. Henry likely did as well.
None of the others were intellectual giants in any sense with the best being a great general but politically clueless from all appearances. His ability to become greatly loved was not a reflection of intellect.
My argument stands tall.
No traitor I since my support for our nation goes from the giants of Washington and Hamilton through their equal Lincoln. I have opposed all its enemies and those muddleheads who assisted our enemies and those who weakened our nation through their support for the Slaver's Insurrection.
Those Founders INTENDED that insurrection be punished and put down. THAT is why the power was explicitly put into the Constitution the Traitors of 1861 tried to destroy.
You would not recognize lucidity if it bit you in the ass.
They don't allow Patriots on that channel perhaps those who laud and lie about Traitors trying to destroy our Nation would have more of a chance. Good luck.
While Jackson's greatness as a general is not disputed, he was up against the B-team during his day not the great generals earning their spurs in the West. Sherman and Grant would have given him all he wanted and more.
The best that could have happened would have been a draw at Gettysburg with the South divided and a strengthening Union army in its heartland. There was no way of supplying the Slaver's Suckers anymore. Europe wanted nothing to do with those losers either. However, if the North had more completely removed the old ruling class then the subsequent history would have been much better without the rise of anti-Freedman Terrorism and the entrenchment of racism as a tool against them.
Another hundred thousand or more deaths could have occurred had he lived but without the Northern RAT Traitors winning the election Jackson would have been no more than a big pain.
The Union was led by a man of genius easily comparable to the greatest who ever lived while the mediocrities of the Slavers were nothings who disappeared without a trace from history's stage.
A distinction without a difference. Imagine the derision awaiting the former member of the Symbionese Liberation Army who might say, "I do not repudiate Donald DeFreeze; I repudiate his kidnapping of Patty Hearst!" Yeah, right, you're a righteous guy. Not.
He made a serious error in judgment, and it cost him his FR account.
An error in judgment is an error in judgment. Lying your face off with 30 people watching isn't an "error in judgment", unless you confine your meaning strictly to the question of whether he could get away with it!
If he hadn't been caught and banned, I take it that you would instead back him to the hilt, and everything he did and said!!
HAW! HAW! HAWWWWW!!
You crack me up, Cad.
Concurrent bang-him-on-the-head bump.
You're liable to break your hammer gonging on the invincibly thick anvil that is JSUATI's head.
But then, he does this stuff on purpose. He is a classic example of invincibly gross slothfulness in getting the point he doesn't want to get.
My new theory is that JSUATI is Harry Jaffa.
Discussion?
Council Bluffs, IA. Where Lincoln conveniently owed 160 acres of land in various lots.
Oh, I hadn't heard that one before!
How say you now, Lincoln defenders? How say you to the charge, that all the excesses of the Gilded Age and the Robber Barons were prefigured by Lincoln himself, and were not a perversion of Lincoln's vision for America, but its fulfillment?
I would remind you of the old English aphorism, that "sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose."
It's payback for all the times you and capitan_fallout gloated over the banning of nolu chan, who was a better poster on the worst day of his life than either of you will ever live to be -- better informed, better at research, more diligent, more workmanlike, better reasoned, and better-mannered.
Read it and weep.
And as much as capitan gloated and crowed, and as much mens rea awareness as he claimed to have about the real reason nolu chan was banned, I still haven't heard the so-called "real reason" (as opposed to the real, "real reason", which is stuck in the mind of a moderator somewhere).
Southerners: Can I get an "amen"?!
Oh, you want to compare Thomas J. Jackson to the Nazis again. How quaint. Well, your solecism of manners aside, -- let's compare.
Here's an enlightening anecdote about German leadership's attitudes toward the Jews:
In 1941, the wife of Baldur von Schirach, Hitler's first national commander of the Hitlerjugend, was traveling by train in the Netherlands. At a train station she observed one of the first roundups of Dutch Jews for transportation to the camps, the Wannsee Protocol having been signed the previous December.
The SS-men and officers handling the crowd of Dutch Jewish civilians were brutal and abusive toward their charges as they herded them toward the freight train waiting to take them to the concentration camps. They shoved them, knocked old women down, set dogs on them, bellowed at them. This went on seemingly interminably. Frau von Schirach, disturbed at what she had seen, determined to take the matter up with the Fuehrer personally the next time she saw him.
The opportunity in due course presented itself in the form of a Nazi social gathering, and Frau von Schirach eventually got her moment with the Fuehrer. She greeted him and took up with him her concern about the conduct of the SS-men, reminding him that Germany aspired to be the standard-bearer of European civilization, and that the spectacle she had seen reflected badly on this claim and on the SS. Hitler just looked at her and said, without further elaboration, "Du musst hassen lernen," that is, "You must learn to hate!" After that, the von Schirachs slipped noticeably in the Nazi social order as a coolness grew up between them and the top leadership, and their relations with Hitler were noticeably strained until the end of the war.
Now, compare that with Jackson's letters that our friend has just quoted, and see if you can repeat your charge with a straight face.
If so, it's lonely "payback," at least from the perspective of being you: I challenge you to find a single post of mine--just ONE would do--that ever "gloated" about this nolu chan character's banning.
By the same token, capitan's banning only bothered me to the extent that he brought it upon himself. The crowing from his scumbag enemies who make up the Lost Cause Squad was to be expected, and didn't trouble me in the slightest--either then, or now.
There is something drearily pathetic and laughably adolescent, at the same time, about a poster who formulates their "argument" towards another on the principle of some imagined "payback" for sneers & giggles they fantasize they've endured.
Perhaps you should find a hobby that doesn't simultaneously task you with such psychological freight while yielding so few visible opportunities to enjoy such meager "rewards" as the empty "payback" you somehow believe you've garnered with this exchange in the so doing...
...(*snicker*)...
yep, believe that to be true.
You're making that up, right?
His Brittanic Majesty acknowledges the said United States, viz., New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, to be free sovereign and independent states, that he treats with them as such, and for himself, his heirs, and successors, relinquishes all claims to the government, propriety, and territorial rights of the same and every part thereof.
It's quite clear that the plural is used.
And there is no evidence that Lincoln profited from the transaction. Just your rather vivid imagination.
How say I now? Once I see your evidence that contradicts other reports that Lincoln did not own the land, and your evidence that he actually profited from the sale of the land if he owned it, then I'll have something to say. So far I haven't seen any source for the information. Until then it remains an unsubstantiated southron fairy-tale.
In your opinion. You are woefully inadequate to debate these matters in mine.
