A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

But I did hear the birds this morning. That is a good sign. :) Yes, it is!
I saw the first Robin of spring a couple days ago - a big ol' fat one sitting up in a tree singing his song. You know, it's funny, I only see a couple Robins each spring and only for a couple days, then we don't have any around here for the rest of the year until the next spring. Guess they are just passin' through. But they show up every spring like clockwork.

The little patio finches are back today. They are checking and repairing nests on the back patio.
Marissa has been excited about all the birds that have been showing up lately.

This is heartbreaking news. May the brave souls of those we have lost rest in peace and may God comfort their loved ones.

The birds are so quiet during winter. This morning I heard a song sparrow just singing his heart out.:)
I had Robins nest a couple of years ago. The babies fell out. I tried to help but Mom and Dad Robin attacked me. They are fierce. LOL :)

I love having them nest around the yard. They are a thrill to see.
Do you think your Ranuculous will come back or did that put an end to them for the season? He must of felt bad. I've done it myself, it's frustrating.

I see Robins when the berries are ripe on the youpon , nandina or whatever..but I don't recall seeing them for long..Seems my mother had them around longer in central Texas. I have heard singing, too. I really looked for a beautiful song maker while out feeding the birds but could not find it or tell what kind it was.

Let's try this again...Now hosted by Tini Pic. Gif found at The Garden Helper. Our troops rose to the occasion! Keep on rising... And keep on rising to the occasion... And keep on raising The Flag!

On the rananculus (sp), I'm sure he just chopped off the tops and the bulbs are probably still there but doubt they will come back this year. Later today, I will check the spelling so I will at least spell it the same way twice. :)
I have a couple that are a nice size and several tiny ones. , The larger ones should bloom; the small ones probably will not bloom this year.
When the gardener came to mow the lawn this week, I showed him the small ones so he would know what they are. He did feel awful; he apologized at least 6 times.

Hi JustAmy
I had a time with the spelling. LOL I think from trying to find bulbs on internet it's Ranunculous. I could be wrong though. Without looking, I probably spelled it a couple of different ways just posting today. LOL Sorry that you lost them. They are gorgeous flowers.

Hi snugs. Haven't "seen" you in awhile. Hope all is well across the pond. That box I sent should be getting there pretty soon. I sent it to your work address. I'm sorry I couldn't afford to send it express mail, but it should be okay taking longer to get there. They said 4 to 6 weeks. Don't ask me why it would take that long.
