The Talk Shows
Sunday, February 19th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Evan Bayh, D-Ind.; former Sen. Alan Simpson, R-Wyo.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sens. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Chertoff; Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., and Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va.; basketball player Shaquille O'Neal.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Chertoff; British ambassador to the United States David Manning, German ambassador to the U.S. Wolfgang Ischinger and French ambassador to the U.S. Jean-David Levitte; retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, formerly in charge of Iraqi army training.
Graham just wastes not time getting on his knees does he?
Hi Peach,
Unfortunately they (ABC, CNN, and CNNHeadline) are not reporting Tierney's translation.
I wish the tapes had not been released to the media until after the summit and until the attendees has a chance to get out ahead of it with Tierney's translation.
Where's Kenneth Timmerman?
Brit: It was a slow news week in Washington which contributed to this. The delay in reporting and placement in a local paper contributed to the paper that the press was being dissed. So you had a Beltway firestorm. This issue outside the Beltway has NO traction.
Mara: There is remarkable consensus (65% of Americans) who think Cheney should have come out sooner with the info. But 69% said it will not make them change their minds about the VP. The press thinks the WH is too secretive and the VP's power is unchecked.
MTP
Noticed that Russert only showed text of the McClellan-Gregory off-camera exchange.
IIRC, that was on tape.
Chris Wallace appears on the Howie Carr radio show every Fri. afternoon. He gives a rundown on Sunday's show. He's extremely funny and very engaging. You wouldn't know that he was Mike Wallace's son from some of the comments he makes. He's certainly not a dyed in the wool liberal. I look forward to his appearance because he and Howie appear to be friends and have a wonderful rapport. Howie is always giving him suggestions on questions he should ask his guests.
I don't trust him either. He comes across very smooth and reasonable, but FReepers from Indiana have said on other posts not to trust him. He didn't vote for CJ Roberts, who IIRC was from his own state.
Stand by for the smackdown. You know it's coming.
The DNC slogs ahead with its Culture of Conniption.
Good point about the timing.
Juan is explaining the Press rage ...
Brit: Oh, please (in response to Julian). The press acted like a pack of jackals. Reporters have an obligation to ask tough questions and be courteous. This time they put the focus on themselves and behaved badly.
Brit's response to Juan was great. "Oh, please"
Funny.....Juan is "explaining" it, and Gregory is LYING about it.....
;-)
Lordy, D. Gregory says the WH press corps is a proxy for the American people. I think not. I guess Gregory agrees with that awful guy on News Watch, that the VP is accountable to the press.
